If this doesn’t hit home, I don’t know what would. Despite a diagnosis of GP since 2019, throughout my medical files etc., after putting a complaint in due to letting me starve for weeks, they’ve now changed their minds because ‘we don’t know if EDS causes GP’ (1)

It blows my mind that there are gastroenterology consultants who can just choose not to believe that Ehlers Danlos Syndrome can play a role in gastro conditions and can dismiss the opinion of previous consultants who do. Easier for it to be in the patients’ heads?

We didn’t know about antibiotics years ago, but we did know infections happened - why is it that just because we don’t have the underlying mechanism known yet, that EDS patients are told that it is anxiety/eating disorders/exaggeration?

This is also despite clinicians in other departments querying a rarer type of EDS due to other conditions/symptoms - was also given a paper that was questionable about gastro issues in EDS but literally supports nutritional input via enteral routes due to severe malnutrition.
