We had the amazing Chris Mould visit our school to share his journey as an illustrator. He even led a brilliant draw-along of one of the iconic Tripods from War of the Worlds. What an unforgettable experience. Thank you Chris! ✏️👽#ChrisMould#NationalLiteracyTrust#FaberBooks
A small group of children enjoyed a walk to the Vault 14 comic shop and the library and it is part of the National Literacy Year of Reading launch, with special guest star "Spiderman"
Hi everyone. I’m an author and illustrator based in South Yorkshire. I do school visits, storytelling shows, draw-alongs and workshops. It’d be great to visit some schools during World Book Day week. See more at philshepp.com or email sheppard.stories@gmail.com

For clarity, the BBC that helped enable Brexit, that puts Farage on virtually every news show almost daily, and whose management has been stuffed with Tories for years, isn’t left wing.
The real weakness of the BBC, as exemplified by recent events, is its failure to stand up to ludicrous claims from the right that it is somehow hugely biased to the left. Listening to Telegraph journalists bleat about a biased BBC, or Reform MPs enjoying more platforming than any minority party in history, underlines that. This is the work of right wing journalists and owners working hand in glove with right wing forces inside the BBC to undermine it. The Labour government needs to help the BBC stand up for itself and clear out those forces that want the BBC to fail.
Today we have given our ideas about the 2026 National Year of Reading and what we felt it should look like in Doncaster. Phil even treated us to a draw along too! @PhilShepp@TheRoseLearning
Year 3, 4 and 5 have had a fantastic afternoon at the Doncaster Storytelling Festival at CAST theatre this afternoon. We enjoyed the author sessions and activities and loved being able to choose a new book! Thank you @PhilShepp@Literacy_Trust
Year 4 have loved their first Young Readers session. We welcomed volunteers from @AmazonUK and @Literacy_Trust into school to share stories, make paper superheroes and chose our very own books to keep! @TheRoseLearning@PhilShepp
Our School Council were an amazing panel of judges today as they judged the Danum Read Aloud contest. A huge well done to all children who entered and congratulations to our winner!!!
On Friday, the Danum Read Aloud final was held in school. Our school council did a fantastic job of scoring each candidate using the fluency rubric. All our candidates were superb, reading with such enthusiasm. Well done to you all!
Today we held our final for the Danum Readaloud competition. Such high quality entries from Y3-Y6! They read with confidence, fluency and great presentational skills in front of an audience! We have our lucky finalist who will now attend the red carpet event! @TheRoseLearning
His storytelling show which involved: a short talk about being an author and illustrator and performances of some of his stories, captured the interest and imagination of children across all ages!
