I unreservedly condemn the comments from the US President. Such remarks are profoundly disrespectful to the memory of those who served with distinction. A total of 457 British service personnel lost their lives in Afghanistan during the 20 year conflict and thousands more were wounded, many with life changing injuries. Their courage, commitment and ultimate sacrifice must never be forgotten. I strongly believe President Trump must apologise for these remarks, which are deeply offensive and upsetting to the families of those who lost their lives in Afghanistan.
