The release of 250 political prisoners in Belarus is a welcome and tangible step forward. I thank the United States for brokering this deal. For many families, this is a moment of long-awaited relief and a chance to reunite with their loved ones. We can't overlook that these individuals should never have been imprisoned in the first place. All those still unjustly detained in Belarus must be freed, and repression must end.
The US is lifting sanctions against Belarusian banks and potassium, according to US Special Envoy John Cole. This is outrageous! Trump rewards aggressors, mass murderers, and dictators while blackmailing and insulting the victim, Ukraine. According to Cole, the restrictions against the Belarusian Ministry of Finance, the Belarus Development Bank, and Belinvestbank will be lifted. Furthermore, the Belarusian Potash Company and Belaruskali, the main producers of potash fertilizers, will be removed from the US sanctions list. The US Special Envoy stated that the lifting of the restrictions would be swift and noted that he had discussed this matter with officials from the Ministry of Finance before his visit to Minsk.
The US delegation is now meeting with the dictator of Belarus, a country with a GDP smaller than the US state of Vermont. Putin needs the US to take sanctions off Belarus to use it as a conduit for western technology for the Russian war machine. The US gains absolutely nothing, but surely the Trump family will make billions from the coming arrangement.

It’s depressing to watch because while this administration will eventually leave office, a segment of Americans will keep hating Ukraine without even remembering why.
This is misleading. Other than Patriots (of which we have only provided 3 systems, I believe) the weapons and munitions used against Iran are not what we were giving to Ukraine. If U.S. stockpiles are running low for Iran operations Ukraine is *not* the reason.
