@nqpcharlie If anything in my trust YAS we have way too many paramedics / clinicians and we often find ourselves single handed or with another Paramedic which was unheard of about 3-4 years ago

Just looked at the NHS jobs website for frontline paramedic jobs working for the ambulance service and… You’ve got a choice between WAS & SWAST. Everyone was speculating things would get better after April. This is wild?

Finished my exam at 16:02. Emailed my lecturer to apologize for what is likely to be a very crap grade at 16:17. Someone remind me why I thought going back to uni was a good idea -_-

Looks like I’m facing the last 2 weeks of CERAD course (and tests) without any ADHD medication. 7/7 pharmacies today - “haven’t had that for months now”. All 6 brand-names out. No ETA for restock. Felling more than a little failed by the health service today.

@nqpcharlie I had the same thought last month when I submitted my expenses claim… over £190 worth of late meal breaks, out of windows and away from bases… that didn’t include my shift over runs… I rarely submit any, and was catching up with my expenses, almost makes you feel guilty!

Am at a point where I’m legitimately concerned someone is going to think I’m lying if I log another long overrun 🥲 (this is out of my last 7 shifts) (hi, its me, I’m the problem it’s me)

That’s my 11 year old… off to school wearing the @drmartens I was gifted 18 years ago…. And also wore for school. The date inside suggests they were vintage when I got them… 1993! Feeling very nostalgic today, and very impressed that a bit of polish and they look new!

@maff2k @drmartens Mine do, and they’re super comfy, but usually looking a bit worse for wear by the annual replacement date 😂 I should probably look after them as well as I did my docs😅 they may last a bit longer!

@PinkhairedPara @drmartens I also go through a pair a year, at work. I won't buy my own though, it's up to your employer to provide PPE!

@maff2k @drmartens My work boots barely last a year of use, maybe I should go back to Dr.Martens… clearly they’re the superior shoe!

@maff2k @drmartens I’m amazed mine have lasted! They’ve seen school, countless gigs and concerts and were my everyday shoe for a good number of years! Even wore them to placement as a student. Glad they’ve got another life after being shelved for so long! Sorry for making you feel old 😂

@PinkhairedPara @drmartens That's pretty impressive - I wore my Docs, in around 1990, to the point of destruction! Thanks for reminding me how old I am 🤣

Burnout isn't about hours worked. In fact, there are usually much deeper causes. Leaders should start to recognize when it's occurring, And take steps to help. Use this graphic to find causes of burnout in your organization.

I really hope that the public know it breaks our hearts as ambulance crew just as much as everyone else seeing stuff like this.

@Leatherman_UK tried to contact yourselves several times as my raptors are in desperate need of TLC… is there any chance of getting a response?

@TheLeeMcLaren Or, you could flip it, and make it a student centred approach to assessments. Some struggle with assignments, but can fly through exams, or critical reflect on an incident but flounder in an OSCE. We really need to move away from this “one size fits all” approach to assessing.

You have 3 years of training to become a qualified Paramedic! where all the responsibility is yours! Would you rather learn: 1. In the trenches, working on an Ambulance 2. In the comforts of a clean, warm lecture room, talking about it. And why?

Absolutely heart breaking for little defib! I can imagine LAS aren’t thrilled with the traction this has got… Just leave the cat alone, it’s his home. I’m fairly certain that staff working there are very good at reversing and playing “mind the cat” after 16 years…

Recently told on this platform I should just do my job and bring pts to hospital for a dr to see them. If every amb crew in the UK conveyed all pts e.g no see/hear and treat. The nhs would crumble within 12- 24hrs. Given average Non conv rate in UK amb is between 40-60% of 999.
