Naveed Akram's family live in "constant fear" for their safety and have endured death threats, stalking and intimidation, his lawyer has told a Sydney court while seeking suppression orders over their identities.
The Akram family are now attempting to play the victim and are making it all about them.
The courts should show Akram the same mercy he showed his victims and their families.
Including 10 year old schoolgirl, Matilda.

@Tyler_A_Harper When I first heard about this i was confused. "Did this same book come out a year ago?" And also the story of a couple whose marriage gets opened only for it to devastate one of them who then runs defense for the whole operation. Its regular as clockwork.

If you offered the chronic unhoused fifty grand each in cash to leave and never come back, most of them would take it, and the city’s problem would be solved for about six months worth of the budget for it. Absolutely astounding figures from the NY state comptroller: spending on services for the NYC street homeless population ran to $81,705 per person last year, up from $28,428 pp 6yrs ago. Figures do not include all kinds of other spending, supportive housing, policing costs etc.

@Danno_Cal Chants of Senna was a great puzzle game that features decoding languages. When you get the "true" ending, a secret about all the languages is revealed that gives you quite the dopamine hit. Very beautiful art too.

puzzle games where you’re just supposed to do random bs until you figure it out are not good puzzle games.
good puzzle games teach you a language and train you, where after you solve something you’re like “ahhh man I should’ve gotten that” instead of “how was I supposed to know that.”

@TopherStoll This is a cool drawing, but if you look at a chickens muscular system, their breast tissue has nearly vertical striations, not pectoral muscles, nor do they have quadriceps muscles like we do. I imagine people find this unsettling because it looks like a warped human body.

Why does this inspire such disgust and conflict in us?
It's hard to argue that this solution isn't better. Better a brainless sack of protein than a living creature capable of pain, longing to see the sky but forced to live in hideous lifelong bondage.
So why does the Harvest Hen or the Domesticated Meat Pig feel worse?
I think it's because it makes the instrumentalization visible. We already treat living creatures as production units, but this takes it "too far"... it stops pretending otherwise. An organism that has been openly, unapologetically designed as a object.
And for some people, in some ways, something about that honesty is harder to look at than the cruelty we've already normalized.

@wil_da_beast630 While welfare queens on foodstamps get to serve slop without health inspections, sales tax, commercial kitchens, etc is untenable. Plus landlords having to call plumbers for grease poured down the drain or exterminators for the rats and roaches eating tossed out food. Nah.

People are getting a little sick of random citizens "selling plates" - a Black female friend on the prosecutorial side will sometimes bring a whole string of A misdemeanors against the owners of houses that do this.

@SandyofCthulhu I only went on one cruise when I was 15. I stayed in the cabin all weekend and finished reading Return of the King, never showering. Best cruise ever. Not for my sisters, but I'll never forget it.

They overbuilt cruise ships about 20 years ago, so cruises are actually cheaper than you'd think. It's perfect. You are not forced to socialize with the other guests (but you can). The food is free. The entertainment is free. Hell I am happy just watching the sea roll by.
And every single day you stop at a new port. Below is a picture of what is literally my favorite cruise ship. It's more expensive than the usual ones but makes up for it with intensity.

WELL I was assaulted by a schizo homeless guy today in Toronto.
I was walking to the grocery store when he started stalking me. I tried to get away from him but it didn’t work. He grabbed me, pinned me against a fence, and then tried to break my hand to steal my phone. Three people passing by helped save me.
The police were quick and kind, but the officer I spoke with told me this guy had been arrested for attacking people repeatedly in the past month, and “fair warning, a judge will probably let him out by tomorrow morning.”

BREAKING: According to the just released federal criminal complaint, after NYC terror suspect Emir Balat was arrested for throwing an IED loaded with nuts, bolts & TATP, he pledged allegiance to ISIS while in NYPD custody, saying:

And added…
