Spoke with a couple from Columbus, OH. They paid $280k for a home in 2020 & that home is now $475,000. They got a 30 year, 3.75% mortgage. They now have 2 kids, need more space but a new home doubles their housing costs. ...They're trapped & millions are in this situation.

@buckrogersmd @theficouple The housing market is way up most places that I have looked since 2020. Most homes have appreciated 50-70%. Not sure where housing prices are down but it’s not anywhere that I’ve looked. Our townhouse was $285k in 2021, and now lesser ones in our development are selling at $430k+

@rushicrypto I wouldn’t say nothing to show for it. You had a comfortable place to live and exist for five years. You had shelter from the weather and a bed to sleep in. That’s about $65 a day. Cheaper than cheap motels. Plus no tax, no upkeep, no yard work, no responsibility to keep up with.

Just realized something that honestly made me stop for a second… $2,000 rent a month. That’s $24,000 a year. Stay there 5 years… that’s $120,000. Gone. No ownership. No asset. Nothing to show for it. Just paid to exist somewhere. That’s actually insane when you really think about it.

@pokerheadrush He literally could have any pair here and is way ahead of you at this point. Currently you have very little invested in this pot. Why risk so much to win so little? Most of these players aren’t folding g a pair to a raise and then you have to be willing to bluff big on River.

Hey everybody... In this hand, you’re playing $1/$2 no-limit hold’em online. You’re playing six-max, and you have $200 in front of you. It gets folded to you in the cutoff, and you raise with A♠ K♣. It folds to the small blind, who calls. The big blind folds. The flop comes 2♥ 3♥ 6♠. The small blind checks, and you continuation bet $4 into $14. The small blind calls. The turn is the 4♦. Now the small blind leads $9 into the $22 pot. There is $31 out there, and you have $190 back. What would you like to do with your hand here?

5 minutes ago, @karpathy just dropped karpathy/jobs! he scraped every job in the US economy (342 occupations from BLS), scored each one's AI exposure 0-10 using an LLM, and visualized it as a treemap. if your whole job happens on a screen you're cooked. average score across all jobs is 5.3/10. software devs: 8-9. roofers: 0-1. medical transcriptionists: 10/10 💀 karpathy.ai/jobs

@rickarianmann @CardPurchaser @PSAcard @TAGgrading I will NEVER use @PSAcard again. Sent cards in many years ago. Cards were flawless when I packed them and sent them. One was a Derek Jeter UD SP rookie cards and when it came back it had clear flaws and edge nicks. I never would have sent that card in. It was just too obvious.

@PSAcard will be out of business in under 10 years. They can’t be trusted and are losing credibility. AI is the future and @TAGgrading has the advantage. Unless PSA switches to AI grading. AGS was to early and now has no chance against @TAGgrading. @CardPurchaser thoughts??

@CommanderToast @HydroFoundry @HustleBitch_ True. But by saving $200-$300 a month I have $2400-$3600 in repair money if needed each year. Plus my insurance is cheaper. And I will be shocked if I use anywhere near that much the first few years.

🚨 YOU NOW NEED A $154,000 SALARY TO “COMFORTABLY” AFFORD A TOYOTA A breakdown going viral shows the math behind a $50,000 Toyota Highlander in 2026. • Average new car price: $51,288 • 20% down payment: $10,000 • Monthly payment: $773 • Insurance, fuel, maintenance: $348/month Total transportation cost: $1,121 every month. Using the 20-4-10 rule, that means you’d need to earn $134,520 a year to afford it. But if you follow the rule properly with a 4 year loan, the income required jumps to $154,440 per year. For a Toyota. When did a normal car start requiring a six figure salary?

@theficouple I actually understand that, and to a point I fully support it. Success and happiness are more than just money. However at some point you’ll need to support yourself/maybe a family and one day retire. Not sure how you do that with just doing enough to get by.

Millenials don't care about building a "career" or climbing the corporate ladder. All we want is to make as much as we need working as little as possible so we can actually live our lives. Instead of spending 40+ years at a job we hate making our boss rich instead of us.

@HydroFoundry @HustleBitch_ Exactly!!! I just bought a six year old vehicle at less than 1/2 the original price. Still moderately low mileage and in really great shape inside and out.

@HustleBitch_ The math is simple… don’t buy a $50k rapidly depreciating asset if you are middle class. Nothing wrong with a 5yo vehicle for $30k that you keep for 10 years

@3vil3mpir36 @PokerJermz I have no idea what you’re even trying to say. But the average hand is 2+mins. Which results in roughly 25 hands per hour. Playing 25 hands for 16 hours in one day totals 400 hands. It is physically impossible to play 500,000 hands of Poker in one year.

I played 500,000+ hands of NL cash games last year. I pulled the data to see which starting hands made the most money. One result completely surprised me. 🧵 Top 10 most profitable hands

In 1971, people in their ***first year out of college*** who landed in any random office got paid $100 an hour in 2026 dollars. I shit you not. $27,500 was the standard annual offer for entry level office jobs in 1971. That’s $208,000 a year today.
April Verrett@SEIUPres

Federal minimum wage has been $7.25 since 2009. Y’all, that’s the price of a LATTE nowadays. It’s not radical to believe an hour of work is worth more than a latte.

@muckrakery It’s not anecdotal. It’s just flat out bad info or more likely just a lie. Even if that one person actually was offered that amount in 1971, which I doubt, it clearly wasn’t as you stated that anyone walking into an entry level office job was making that. Why the deception?
