In the age of AI, I wonder if the role of parents in their kids’ career choices is changing. Prior to AI, the traditional view of parenting was to help your child graduate high school and go to college (or at least get into a trade). But with AI, things are shifting. AI is taking over various areas of knowledge work, so just getting your kids “educated” doesn’t seem to guarantee a good job long-term. I think it can be helpful to divide jobs into a few categories: 1. Knowledge work: Jobs where your intellect makes you money. 2. Physical labor: Jobs that predominantly require manual work. 3. Capital: Letting your capital make you money, whether via real estate, interest, equities, etc. 4. Capital management: Probably a spinoff of knowledge work, but focused on managing assets. 5. Risk-taking and people management: Are these higher-level skills than intellect? Maybe. But there is definitely a case to be made for entrepreneurship, hustle, and good people-managing skills. As we dive deeper into the AI era, parents need to think deeply about what kind of jobs will be available for their kids as they become adults and how to help them prepare. Is the best approach still just getting your kids into college and letting them figure it out (the typical approach)? Or does the changing world require a changing role for parents—perhaps one that is more proactive and engaging, where the parent and child work together to find the right career path? Also with AI, how many times will it disrupt what we know about careers? Perhaps every 5 to 10 years? One idea is to have parents go all-in with helping their child develop super high creativity, amazing people-management skills, strong hustle, and high entrepreneurial skills. Will that be enough to allow their child's career to be enhanced by AI and not disrupted? Another idea is relying on capital—letting the parents' capital provide income to their children. Typically, this has been largely frowned upon by culture. Wealthy families sometimes use workarounds where their adult children manage the family’s real estate or assets, so there is still some work getting done. Some parents also bring their adult children into their business as partners or apprentices, grooming them to take over one day. There’s also the concept of parents actively working alongside their adult children to help them find jobs or adapt to changing industries. This is interesting. Perhaps the parent’s role simply has a longer horizon now than it did in the past. I'm not sure what the right idea is, but I wonder who else is thinking about this. Who else is writing about it? What are the most innovative and interesting ideas out there regarding all of this?

I’m getting a bit worried about Mainoo. I understand Ugarte’s good for putting a foot in but if it’s a calm head keeping possession, Kobbie’s your man.

Thoughts on Kobbie Mainoo: The current narrative that everyone is pushing about him being out of favour, not fancied by Ruben or not suitable for Ruben's setup is total utter rubbish. Aka a stupid twitter narrative. I'll explain why: Kobbie is still only 20 years old, still developing and yet is still playing a very important role in the team. If you cant see that your agenda is blinding you. Ruben has been in charge of 43 games. Kobbie has been involved in 28 of them. Kobbie missed 9 games through injury. That leaves only 6 games he wasn't part of. Of the 28 games he was part of that included 15 starts. Now the BIGGEST thing people seem to be overlooking and ignoring - Kobbie's injury record. Last season he missed 83 days (18 games) due to injury. The season before he missed 88 days (21 games) Thats almost half of each season, for the last 2 seasons he's missed through injury. Just think about that for a second.. Ruben isnt stupid. He knows all about Mainoo, his strengths, his weaknesses and where he needs to grow and develop. He used him to great effect last season. The CM roles (both 6 & 8) in his formation take a lot of stamina and we do not want Kobbie getting injured again. We've got to be cautious with him. Whether ypu like it or not, he is an integral part of this team. He can play 6, 8 or 10 and if we get any injuries he will step straight in and probably be a starter BUT there is absolutely no need to rush him or try to shoehorn him into the starting 11 for the sake of it. He will play a big part this season and will continue to build up his stamina, strength and all round fitness. Take Phil Foden as a good example and how Pep integrated him slowly building him up season by season: Age 18: 329 minutes (17'-18') Age 19: 1110 minutes (18'-19') Age 20: 1772 minutes (19'-20') Age 21: 3376 minutes (20'-21') Age 22: 3184 minutes (21'-22') Now compare that to Kobbie: Age 17: 87 minutes (22'-23') Age 18: 2405 minutes (23'-24') Age 19: 2069 minutes (24'-25') Age 20: ? You'll notice instantly Pep eased Foden in slowly over 3 seasons and built him up, where as Kobbie was thrown in at the deep end, his minutes sky rocketed from one season to the next and thats probably contributed to his injuries and him spending long spells on the sidelines. Give the kid space, give him time to develop and earn his spot, stop putting unhelpful pressure on him and stop using him as a stick to beat Ugarte and others with. Lets not make the same mistakes with Kobbie we did with others.. there is no need to overhype him, no need to blow constant smoke up his arse. Support him and he will flourish but just stop using him as ammunition to run pathetic agendas against Ruben or other players. Anyhow thats my two cents in him. #MUFC

@Superlism @GoodwinMJ I'm qualified enough to take the advice of our accountant. The moment you go over 100k you lose the 12 and a half k allowance by increments. Read today's telegraph. If you are in between 100 and 124k the tax burden makes you worse off.
