@BenZwei @msmegalodon I think it's poor framing. I think it's the staging of actors in space for the sake of the CGI shots in post. I think it's the obvious green screen vistas. Someone rewatch Tremors and tell me that wasn't shot on a soundstage (because it fucking was!) because you can't tell.

i mean this with no malice in my heart, but after finally watching more 80s and 90s popcorn movies and seeing how comparatively beautiful they are, i don’t think i will be able to return to my mcu journey. they’re nigh unwatchable to me

@msmegalodon THIS. The original Jurassic Park movie feels so real, like it could REALLY happen. The new ones feel so hollow. Maybe this sounds dumb, but they feel TOO scripted. I just don’t believe the acting or the one liners or the characters, it feels manufactured and formulaic to a fault

@1978fred @KirkWrites79 True dat. Plus, many of us African-Americans don't want to see our traumas on-screen, even when filmmakers like the Till director attempt to center joy. So if we don't show up, and then other races don't show up, quality movies that tell important stories don't succeed.

@PlanningSistar @KirkWrites79 Its a very tough market in theatres for non blockbuster NON star driven vehicles, way more so than pre covid. Very unfortunate for many creative film makers with a story to tell.

Just watched “The Woman King” and not enough people are talking about Lashana Lynch. The entire cast is fantastic but she does everything right. I also can’t say enough about the cinematography, production design and the costumes. Give Gina Prince-Bythewood whatever she wants!
