the function of your professional life is to find the most natural structure that allows you to turn the things you do as naturally as breathing or walking into compounding capital and joy over decades this, necessarily, requires rotating quickly out of things that aren't it

Responsibility is an Honor. True in your professional life -> responsibility over your team, your employees, your work & craft. True in your personal life -> responsibilities with your spouse, family, or home. The weak shirk it. The strong embrace it as an honorable position.

Deel has raised $300M at a $17.3B valuation We started about 6 years ago, struggling to even make $10K. I've never shared this before because of how embarrassing our start was. The story of how we went from $1K to $1B and the advice I'd give to my younger self:

I built an app to take voice notes on walks & transcribe on device, also pull interesting ideas from those notes. It runs two different AI models on iOS, whisper & the Qwen 3 LLM. So that means no account needed, no subscription, private all on device apps.apple.com/us/app/walkwri…

@TrevMcKendrick I also have a little api wrapper for when I'm working locally, that pushes the updated context to Claude with a hotkey, so I can work locally on my own machine and then ask Claude questions in the interface, without having to re upload context

@TrevMcKendrick If I'm working in the context of a broader project, I make sure all of the work context is uploaded into a Claude project. Makes it much quicker to ask questions / brainstorm without providing tons of context. I also paste in a standard prompt into the context for my prefs

What's the best thing you've done to lower the activation energy to ask Claude/ChatGPT a question? Yes I've already set a hotkey This is about a mental shift

As a data leader, you need to understand the "business equation" of your company. Great companies map out their levers for growth. High-performance data teams have strong data models supporting these levers, and develop a deep, causal understanding of why they matter.

One of my actually trad beliefs is that apprenticeships should make a comeback And not just for plumbers and carpenters, for programmers and graphic designers and chip manufacturers No reason capable 14 and 15 year olds shouldn't be learning a trade instead of going to school

I’m very curious about something. We see a lot of news about companies that are mandating a return to office, but almost nothing about the companies that are doubling down on remote work. Examples I know of: Twilio, Eventbrite, GitHub. What are some others?

Most people still don't know how to hire. I've messed up enough times to feel strongly about one thing now: The best employees I've worked with are all very, very curious. 1/ Now I know how to find curious people and hire them:
