@ProfBabones Prof, I am not sure I follow you. If people working Uber & delivering food (predominantly Indian students) are the cause of falling productivity as you insinuate, how is it that the Indian community as s whole make up 2% of the population but contribute over 5% of taxes?

@oliver_adl @taipan168 It’s not one or the other, it’s a combination of both. I can’t think of a parallel in this regard.

Plenty of countries with tragic histories of their own and similar wealth levels don’t share nutrition related problems with the sub-continent though. And the dietary related health outcomes are shared in the (wealthy) Indian diaspora too. I’d argue it’s just a lack of knowledge on the issue at this point. Anyway; people can learn and get healthier if they wish!

I have had such delicious food in India that I will need to go on a starvation diet and an Ironman training program to recover! This is a Bengali-style thali from a restaurant specialising in Calcutta foods. So delicious! 😋😋😋

@oliver_adl @taipan168 Lack of protein can be attributed to country being majorly vegetarian, although that’s changing. The other point is affordability, as you know nutritious food isn’t cheap. When Brits left in 1947 after 200 years of plunder, poverty was 80%+, that’s how rice & wheat became staple.

@taipan168 used to appreciate Indian cuisine till I learnt macro nutrients and saw how deficient it all is in protein. Unfortunately why diabetes and a belly is so common for those eating this way. Pity because the flavors are amazing. You’d be holding a lot of water weight due to carbs!

@analyticflying Both the aircraft & the route is something they inherited from the pre-Covid VA. Not disputing what they are doing, PE is not a charity.

@PointsHq How is that different to any airline? They’re a business. Their goal is shareholder value. If it’s purely about the impact on short term profitability, then why operate CNS-HND and take on the B 737 MAX?

Fill a hole in Virgin’s network? Sure, but they could also fill it themselves. This might be a strong indication that Virgin have no willingness or ability to return capacity to NZ. This is one hell of a gift to Qantas & Jetstar.

@geofferyxc @DerekJGrossman @bagla There is no way in the world so many in India would hold such unfavourable Taiwan view. Something’s not right with this survey.

@DerekJGrossman @bagla Reputable doesn't mean they don't make mistakes, Western organisations still tend to see Asia as a homogenous region, which we all know are not true.

India has a Taiwan problem. 43% of Indians hold an unfavorable view of Taiwan—the highest level of all countries polled. And when India-China relations are in such awful shape. What gives?
