[1/5] Thank you for lifting this work @AnnalsofSurgery. We are honored to share our findings, which to our knowledge is the 1st national comparison to show that Medicare eligibility mitigates adverse financial outcomes after surgery, which could also affect clinical outcomes.

Making one bad turn to find a hospital - say turning left instead of right - may have our patients paying nearly $1000 more out of pocket for their emergency general surgery. We need real policy solutions 📃 to fix this prime example of financial vulnerability
