🪖 Today, on #VeteransDay, I would like to take a moment to show my gratitude. Those who served our nation chose to put their lives on the line to fight for a better #America, and we owe it to them to make it happen. 🚫 But it isn't enough to just say we honor our troops and vets, action needs to happen. We certainly should improve our VA system and help our homeless vets, but if we truly want to thank those who served, we must improve the way we treat ourselves here at home. We're neighbors, a melting pot of people from all over the world that came together to make this the land of the free—but do people here really feel free? 🏥 #Freedom is not medical bankruptcy, the number one form of bankruptcy here in America—it's freedom from the tyranny of greedy middlemen insurance agencies that nickle and dime us while holding our health hostage, and moving to a system that puts people over profit. 💵 Freedom is not a race to the bottom of our jobs to see which companies pays our workers the least while CEOs and stockholders get quarterly raises—it's rewarding the hard working people who carry this country on our backs every day by paying better wages, lowering our taxes while holding the rich to a higher standard of paying their fair share, and giving everyday citizens the opportunity to have a high quality lifestyle. 🍞 Freedom is not arguing over who gets certain foods and how much—it's ensuring everyone gets fed nutritious meals and making sure no child has to cry for a crust of bread. 💣 Freedom is not using our taxes to fund nonstop wars while enriching companies that make our weapons and equipment—it's using diplomacy as the very first tool, and keeping it sharp so further conflict doesn't arise and our troops aren't needlessly called to action. 🫂 Freedom is not pointing fingers at our neighbors and being negative towards them for being different—it's about coming together to find solutions to our everyday problems and moving us closer towards the more perfect union our founding fathers wanted us to have. 🇺🇸 If we want to honor our vets we should start by building a better America.
