@vvvvvictoria_ @KearnuLarsen @oroborous Why are you so apparently aggressive over someone saying that people in the future will not voluntarily poison themselves as much? Do you like, want people in the future to drink and smoke more?

@ArchilleLauro @mountain_ted @Gen_Buhari_ Yeah just the dome of the Pantheon which was unique, sure. The Hagia Sofia however completely influenced turk mosque architecture. Just go to Istanbul and you’ll see 4-5 copies along the Bosphorus

@mucitizen @oulosP You are the invaders of Anatolia, not the Greeks. I visited your cheap country and the only reason the Greek/Roman remnants are preserved is to rip tourists off otherwise they would remain in the dirt

The Osman Çavuş Mosque in the northwest Greek city of Ioannina was constructed in 1618 by Ottoman occupiers. It was destroyed in 1930, 17 years after the Greek Army liberated the city, using dynamite to clear a site for a school.

@AntSpeaks What do you think halal is my guy? There's plenty of halal at Greggs. But also, and this is gonna blow your mind, we can appreciate or support shops that we can't visit ourselves. Greggs is relatively ethical for many other reasons.

What's funny is that Greggs isn't halal and their non-pork products are baked in the same ovens as their pork products… Surely you wouldn't eat something so haram, Zara?

@chuckchickenses @jennifer_zilla @jeremyoharris @star_Bunny_4_ You just latch onto identities because you have no personality. You think you’re alternative because you listen to fucking MCR a mainstream band with ass music that you only think is cool because you were like 3 years old at the time. And somehow because of autism you like F1 too

@AbMS19 If this proves to be the undoing of the American empire, then it will be known throughout time that when all of the Arab states betrayed the entire Muslim world by siding with America and Israel, it was Iran that stood up and defended the entire ummah all by itself.

Because most Americans aren't in academia or R&D, they just don't realize it--but the amount of human and research capital the US has chased out of the country is surreal. It's not like a Walmart you just rebuild. It takes *decades* to claw back researchers, projects, teams, etc
Soda@fredsoda

it’s pretty clear the next decade (or two) will be awful for the US, regardless of who succeeds Trump he’s permafucked the situation tbh

@25YearsAgoLive He was one of the most disgusting human beings ever. If hell exists, he is there with Hitler. Spoiler: he never had a trial, he spent his last days hidden, acting like if he had dementia, like a coward, like a disgusting piece of shit. He was spat at his funeral

Former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, now 85 years old, arrives at the chapel in his compound in Bucalemu, Chile, for a mass. A Chilean appeals court ruled three days ago that Pinochet must stand trial in the deaths and disappearance of some 75 political opponents in 1973, which took place in the weeks after the bloody September coup.

I think you can tell how smart or dumb someone is by the cadence they adopt when they read out loud. Everyone has a characteristic “reading out loud” cadence that probably comes from 1 or 2 core influences from when you first learned to read. And that cadence shapes how you quietly read in your mind. And that cadence influences how you process written information, which impacts intelligence.

This is true for all old bands now. There’s almost no band who are listed on Wikipedia as “were” rather than “are”, all with zombie lineups. As long as people keep paying to come to the shows so they can say they’ve seen the band, the brand is more valuable than the musicians.
Rock Photography@Photomusicrock

At what point is a band a tribute band? Lynyrd Skynyrd is touring in 2026 but the lineup includes zero original members!
