As Toronto continues to map out its search for a new Head Coach, one prospective candidate believed to be on their radar is Jay Woodcroft. The Leafs will need permission to speak with him, but as of today, they have not yet requested it from Anaheim.

@ZegrasTrevor Especially considering the recent healthy scratches of both Ducks players... not saying that means they have no value, but I think it would certainly take more to land Mathews.

Ducks are one of the most stable franchises. 2nd richest owner in the league, 4 billion of their own money into OC Vibe and arena upgrades. And now have a young competitive team on the rise.

@pulpoinspace @PowerPopJeff Cutter is about 9.5/10 IMO, still unsure how they are going to fit all of that into a ~31 million cap (count LaCombes new contract)

Will be really interesting to see how the contracts end up... and how long we have to wait till we find out. Also with no 1st round pick i wouldn't be surprised if we see a big trade on draft day.

@PowerPopJeff I’d say trade harkins keep Viel and Johnston i don’t hate those numbers for all those deals though wish JC would do 3x5 cuz of his age but i get it if he does sign i hope he looks more comfortable with the team next season

Question for St. Louis blues fans. Why would you not move Robert Thomas? Seems like you guys can jump start an excellent rebuild by dealing kyrou/thomas/parayko/binnington. I just don’t think blues can compete in west and especially in the central

@ducks2007quack @TUnit1427 @IcemanAthletic Who knows what the agent was asking for i doubt we'll find out. I just know the agent always trys to get as much money for his client as he can, while the GM trys to do what's best for the team. Even if he saved just a little bit by being stubborn it will help the team long term.

@PowerPopJeff @TUnit1427 @IcemanAthletic Also not sure what you mean by not caving. It’s not like McTavish was asking for 8*9 or 8*10. 6 years at 7m or 8 years at 8m was the market value. My gut says Verbeek was trying to get him on a steal of a contract but once it got late he gave in to market value.

@ducks2007quack @TUnit1427 @IcemanAthletic That's one way to look at it, another way is Verbeek didn't cave to McTavishs agents demands and didn't overpay for a 3rd liner and occasional healthy scratch.

@RyanGibbs56 Not sure if I've seen anyone mention it, but as great as he was against Edmonton, he disappeared against Vegas. I liked him a lot more on 4th line than when they moved him up a line. I would like him back, but at the same time he seems like he could be replaced pretty easy.

Had Viel as an RFA by mistake. But, yeah, point still stands. I think that's a guy you bring back on a modest deal. Even if he ends up as an extra forward down the line, that's fine. Ducks got more out of him than they probably thought they would when they made that trade.
