You just have to look at viewership for the NLS races with Max Verstappen to see his drawing power. Will be a big fumble for F1 to lose him over these regs. The regs went too in favour of manufacturers. Think Max's retirement talk is a driver trying to balance the scales again.

@Dutchismyname @F1GuyDan Sorry, you’ve mistaken me for a Max fan, which I’m not. I ultimately want what’s best for this sport. 2021 was a travesty that should not have happened, hence why I said my logic also applied to that circumstance.

@PrancingPole @F1GuyDan I asked if you felt the same way? Both things can be true but I see an overwhelming presence of complaints from Max fans that didn’t complain when regulations and broken rules benefited Max. Bad is bad. Cant only be when it impacts your guy. 21-25 filled with broken rules.

@F1GuyDan @PrancingPole Interesting. Did you guys support the stolen chip of 2021? That’s what F1 couldn’t afford but they did it anyway. Killed the soul of the sport.

@thanos876 Maybe you’re right re Lewis, and the sport, as sports do, will move on, but that doesn’t contradict what I said. Max is still a high commodity, & from a business standpoint, F1 would want to avoid any commercial implications that would be tied to his exit.

@PrancingPole As long as Lewis is on the grid, Max will never be F1’s biggest asset. The sport will survive with his departure.

@Squirrel1633K @F1GuyDan Yeah, it’s time for Stefano to put his diplomacy skills to use. Losing Max will be an unbelievable own goal. I just can’t believe that the FIA has allowed this unsustainable situation to arise.

@PrancingPole @F1GuyDan Correct. It’s literally a worst case scenario. Especially when Max will be blunt about his reasons for leaving. This is 100% why he and Domenicali are about to have a sit down.

@thomasmaheronf1 At least there’s finally a recognition that changes are required, but I still deem it as malpractice when you consider that concerns about the 50/50 split had been long voiced. It’s an incredible own goal.

I'm hearing some interesting admissions off the back of Suzuka - namely, that there's a growing awareness within the FIA that the 50/50 split has been the wrong direction. It's understood that, in the short-term, energy deployment limits are being looked at while, longer-term, a change in the ICE vs. electrical split. Getting the drivers and teams in alignment is a hurdle to clear, with the teams not all agreeing with their drivers on the issues, but there is an awareness now that changes are needed. #F1 #JapaneseGP

By the way, Gasly went under the radar today. He’s driving at a high level.

Absolutely, I have no doubts about Leclerc’s ability in comparison to Max. The difference between them is opportunity and Red Bull has been a more stable environment than Ferrari

So Leclerc only got this podium thanks to both Hamilton and Russell having deployment issues... NEVER call him unlucky again.

Leclerc is only happy if he's ahead of his teammate. Look how his mood improved as soon as some luck got his way to finish ahead of Hamilton. It was like this with Sainz too. The mood in the Ferrari camp was bad whenever Sainz finished ahead.
