@jesusrglez The reason why Annie G. Rogers is so good is because first of all, even if she’s showing us technique, she’s really writing a novel. Most of my other choices for technique writing is based on their ability to demonstrate technique through their chosen medium of the novel. 😊

Here’s a typical sampling of posts about “narcissists” The term comes from psychoanalysis. So do borderline personality & psychopath Guess what? The controlling/manipulative/predatory behavior they always describe is NOT narcissism. It’s 🎯borderline personality 🎯psychopathy

My thanks to @PCPSIreland and all who attended my workshop on personality styles in psychotherapy—and special thanks to the case presenters who graciously volunteered to discuss their clinical cases so all could learn. It was an honor to have this opportunity to work with you! 🙏

@AllenFrancesMD Taking an empathatic stance isn't always about collaboration; it's, at times, about bearing witness to parts of people which are heavily stigmatized for their "negative" connotations. Kernberg's work indicates of empathy extended to these parts.

I strongly disagree with Kernberg's method of treating people with (the misleading label) "Borderline Personality Disorder" because it sets up an antagonistic patient/therapist relationship. Instead, I strongly endorse Linehan's much more collaborative & empathic approach.

@JonathanShedler I agree with you, inner child is not a psychoanalytic concept. Berne and Jung were not practicing psychoanalysis either. Serge Leclaire had a wonderful take on so-called “inner child work” and it’s place in psychoanalysis.

There still needs to be more clarity regarding the revised HRA under the UGC fellowship schemes. Strangely no circular or official notification is available anywhere. Scholars/Nodal officers have yet to receive a proper update. Please help the scholars! @ugc_india @EduMinOfIndia

This is a great Q. Lemme try to answer in a brief thread. 1. Try not to think so much about WHAT to do or say (though you do have to think about it a bit obv.) Rather, think about what does this mean, what is going on in this person’s mind as a response to their life.

@Hannah_R_Snyder @KMKing_Psych @Dr_Christoph I'd be really worried about the students who are asked to skip Freud/psychodynamics given that they hold strong empirical, cultural and ecological value as endorsed by the most scientific minds of our time. We are have come really far from the "not-so-relevant" debate.

@KMKing_Psych @Dr_Christoph Yes time to end this. I put up one slide in Developmental that just says "Psychodynamic theories: not empirically supported" and tell them that's all they need to know and they can skip those sections of the textbook.

My unpopular opinion is that Intro Psych Freud is important. A goal of a liberal arts education is to help students become literate, not just become professionals. Studying Freud will improve your cultural literacy more than any other person in Psych.

Have been accepted as a fellow at the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis for its 2023 fellowship. Will be remotely attending the program centering around the foundational principles of anaytic thinking and its place in our therapeutic work.

Was recently told by a prof. to check the "treatment guidelines" before considering psychodynamic therapy for obsessionality (& it can be a contraindction which it is not. Pt had h/o attachment injuries and trauma). I wanted to argue further but was sadly sitting in a viva. Sigh.
