@TheGridironHQ Position Group = OL for sure. But Position = Middle Linebacker. Defend the run, the pass, Align the D. The QB of the D. And make 7 guys around you right when they screw up. There is a reason why Bobby Wagner consistently is a top tackler on his teams.

Most difficult position to coach in football? A lot of coaches will say offensive line: – 5 guys working as one – technique matters every snap – one breakdown can wreck a play Others may say defensive backs: – one wrong step can cost you 6 – constant communication – asked to play with confidence on an island Some will say QB because of everything on their plate. What’s your answer and why? 🏈

@GlazierClinics Set up a cone grid on your field for same look. Then as the grass gets worn you can move your cones day to day. I call this “box drill” we go through all our footwork for every type of block in the box.

O-Line Covered Step Drill - This offensive line drill utilizes the lines on a turf field or painted boxes to simulate old-school board drills. - To maximize individual time, coaches can line up multiple players along every five-yard line to get a high volume of repetitions in a short period. - The first movement, or the power step, is a short step used to transfer weight from the backside big toe to the lead leg to create power. - On the coach's second command, players execute the drive step, which provides the actual movement and force of the block. - Players must ensure their second step lands in front of their first step, driving that foot up the crotch of the defender and upfield. - While players in the drill may fall forward without resistance, in a game scenario, this momentum is used to strike the defender in a proper fit. Coaching truth no one wants to say out loud: Don’t worry about advanced degrees and increased educational experience. Save your money and simply get a low level position and advance. Have a rolodex of connections and you’ll get any job you want.

As someone who sometimes covers high school sports in Washington, it is so confusing to have both a Mount Tahoma High School and a Tahoma High School located about 30 miles from each other.

Did I miss a new WIAA rule that we have to post an AI image of our logo on the Iceman Album cover? Was this in Coaches School?

@chriscfore Washington is wild also. Major budget cuts from the state funding to schools. Many districts are doing staff reductions.

The question that state politicians need to ask themselves is why are so many people leaving the state of California? LOTS of educators are losing their jobs right now.

@VinceNolascoAD @chriscfore I would hypothesize that this has to do with a few factors, 1: the cost of having a child. 2: the increased education on sexual health. 3: the increased education of people. Data shows higher educated people have families later in life. No more 16&Pregnant.

@chriscfore Also at the State AD conference last month, a lot of data was presented. There’s a decline in Kindergarten enrollment compared to 10 years ago. The domino effect is happening throughout the state.

Imagine playing the sport for 15 years. Coaching for 15 years. Getting a masters in the profession. Working your way up through every level (Youth, Middle School, Freshman, JV, Varsity.) And getting passed over for someone with literally zero paid High School experience? Wild.

@chriscfore Then the follow up to the question is why is this a distraction? We shouldn’t care this much about it.

@PremierLinePlay I don't think he should. But as the owner of a multi billion dollar company, do you want your head coach using poor discretion that will lead to major Distraction to the team?

When does Vrabel get fired? I'll answer: once your value to the organization becomes LESS than the costs and the risks, you GONE! In other words, put everything on a scale. Do his moral decisions outweigh his coaching ability and potential?

OL Coaches, Just spend a weekend learning about acceleration and gait from a sprints coach. It will change how you view getting off the ball and OL footwork in general. It’s not difficult, you just have to be willing to learn.

Blows me away that schools actually have to put this. However, after consulting 2 private schools the last few months, and seeing all of their applicants first hand, you'd be surprised how many folks apply for Head Football Coach jobs with NO football coaching experience whatsoever.
