This is why no one should be arrested on the orders or influence of @UBAgroup Chair @TonyOElumelu. He is a public figure, and a billionaire content creator and the Nigeria Police Force @policeng has no right to detain anyone on his behalf over expression. Mr. @TonyOElumelu knows very well that it is only in Nigeria that police connections are routinely used to violate citizens’ rights. Across the world, public figures are scrutinized and criticized, sometimes harshly. @elonmusk had his private jet tracked for years by a Florida-based teenager, @jackfsweeney yet no law enforcement agency illegally detained the individual. Public Figures like @BillClinton, @BarackObama , @MichelleObama, and @TonyBlair (who are friends with @TonyOElumelu) are constantly subjected to criticism and unflattering commentary, but no police force would entertain arresting citizens on their behalf for such reasons. Only in Nigeria would a billionaire public figure and I maintain “content creator”attempt to use a compromised police system to detain other content creators for expressing unflattering views. This must be rejected outright, freedom of expression is not a crime. Only in Nigeria! #AACOurParty x.com/dammiedammie35…

Oshiomhole can't be a serious person for pushing for MTN's permission to be revoked; Whatever South Africans are doing in SA shouldn't be a reason to not think thru. As much as the network provider has issues, it's still more reliable than seems to be owned by a Nigerian. Let's not also forget that MTN employed a lot of people, jobs that can't be provided by Oshiomhole or the incompetent govt if MTN ever decides to leave. Many companies have folded up or left the country due to how poorly the govt operates, but you want to add more to the list? When we have bigger issues to worry about? Same MTN that pays heavy tax to the govt? The audacity of these people. Glo that's reportedly owned by a Nigerian barely has stable network

“Those guys should be released immediately, we’ve asked them to release those boys. Even Tony Elumelu lives his life on the internet, always showing that he has private jets and all, why’s he worried about being spoken about on the internet? Tony Elumelu is the biggest content creator in the billionaire industry, he cannot be benefiting from social media and then arr£sting bloggers who talk about him” Yele Sowere

🇨🇳🇳🇬 Nigeria, thanks to China, has started selling gasoline instead of just oil. China helped build the $20 billion Dangote Oil Refinery. As a result, approximately 44,000 barrels of gasoline were exported per day in March.

When a nobody concocts a lie that your daughter has HIV, hand them a chieftaincy title in celebration of their attempt to destroy your daughter’s life. An able father has chosen the path of justice, to fight for his daughter. The full weight of justice in its obese state must be unleashed. Those that can learn will learn. Those that can’t will be taught.

Opposing the government is democratic, but inciting soldiers to rebel against the state is treasonous. Let’s not mistake stupidity for activism. You can’t profess a love for Nigeria while calling for the overthrow of its elected leadership. The conversations that guy was having with soldiers crossed the line.

Guys read this so that you will not sleep in prison. 1: Nigerian Armed Forces have a comprehensive social media policy designed to protect NATIONAL SECURITY, Prevent the Leakage of operational information, and maintain the professional image of the Military. 2: the policy is not intended to silence individuals but rather to strike a balance between FREE SPEECH and NATIONAL SECURITY. 3: There is a SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTORATE to monitor compliance and address security beeches. 4: the security of the nation is greater than the liberty of any individual. Read Dokubo-Asari vs FRN 2007. 5: don’t discuss “coup or political change” with any military officers. It is a treasonable felony. 6: Don’t let the “applause” lead you to prison .

@Prfaminu @Muhammed568910 @SaharaReporters What channel? The military personnel who had done that in were court martialed… it’s crazy how they can fight people for speaking up for them and they are rehabilitating Boko Haram and bandits does that make any sense? Should we not speak up when things are bad?

|@TonyOElumelu, the Chairman of @UBAGROUP, @Heirs_Holdings, and @TonyElumeluFDN, is a public figure and a well-known content creator himself; he should respect fellow creators (the so-called “banger boys”) rather than use his influence or connections with the @PoliceNG to unlawfully detain anyone. Disputes over content are civil matters, not grounds for arrest and prolonged illegal detention. The @PoliceNGmust therefore immediately release Kingsley Akunemeihe (@Directorkem), Chigozie Success Ihebom, and John Surpruchi Nwanorue (@PROBLEMCHImky)

Let me speak plainly here as a soldier. Zagazola just broke this down better than most commentators ever will. Justice Mark Chidiebere didn't cross the line because he criticised the military. He crossed it when he allegedly started having private conversations with serving soldiers about "change of government." That is not activism. That is not free speech. That is a red flag wrapped in a conspiracy. Let me make this clear for everyone in the back: any civilian who tries to pull a serving soldier into discussions about overthrowing the government is not a journalist. They are not a blogger. They are not a citizen activist. They are a security threat. And no military in the world not America, not Britain, not Nigeria will ignore that. So while people argue about free speech, we soldiers are thinking about something else: what happens if a young, frustrated soldier actually listens? What happens if an illegal order is given? What happens if that conversation leads to real action? That is why the DSS stepped in. Not to silence opinions. To prevent a potential explosion. Content creators need to understand something: your phone is not a shield. Your follower count is not immunity. When you cross from criticising policy to courting mutiny, you become a problem that the state is duty‑bound to solve. Zagazola said the line is not always visible but it is very real. Let me add: if you cannot see it, stay far away from it. Because the consequences will not care about your intentions. They will care about what you did. Be wise. 🇳🇬
Zagazola@ZagazOlaMakama

Where Justice Mark Chidiebere Crossed the Line By Zagazola Makama The recent arrest and handover of Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, to the Department of Security Services has sparked predictable debates about free speech, accountability, and the limits of online activism. But beneath the noise lies a more serious issue one that goes beyond blogging and into the sensitive terrain of national security. From available details, the turning point was not mere criticism of the military. Democracies tolerate, and even benefit from, scrutiny of their institutions. The red line appears to have been crossed when private conversations between the blogger and serving soldiers suggested alignment around “change of government.” In any country, that phrase, especially when involving active-duty personnel is not taken lightly. No professional military, whether in Nigeria or elsewhere, would ignore such signals once credible evidence emerges. The Nigerian Army’s response, therefore, should be viewed through that lens. This is an institution that has, in recent months, remained alert to internal and external threats, including failed attempts by rogue elements to destabilise the system. When a civilian is perceived rightly or wrongly to be encouraging disaffection or coercing soldiers within the ranks, it triggers an entirely different category of concern. At that point, it is no longer about opinion, it becomes a question of discipline, cohesion, and national stability. This is where many content creators must draw a hard lesson. The digital space is not a vacuum. Conversations especially with uniformed personnel carry consequences. Amplifying unverified allegations, engaging soldiers in sensitive political discussions, or projecting narratives that could be interpreted as incitement can quickly move from advocacy into dangerous territory. The line is not always visible, but it is very real. There is also the broader issue of responsibility. Too often, fragments of internal grievances are pushed into the public domain without context or verification, feeding a cycle where the military is portrayed only through its shortcomings. While criticism is legitimate, a pattern of reckless amplification erodes public confidence and, more importantly, can embolden hostile actors who thrive on internal discord. If indeed the conversations attributed to Justice Mark Chidiebere reflect attempts to influence serving soldiers toward political ends, then the response by authorities was not just expected; it was inevitable. What we must all know is that freedom of expression does not extend to actions that could undermine the stability of the state. In an era where a single message can travel faster than any bullet, knowing where the line is and choosing not to cross it has never been more important.
