No where that dumps their upper middle class and central wealth creation engine/industry (in NY that would be high finance and financial services) aggressively while importing brand new population demographics that are a measurably greater tax burden than the upper-middle-class doing the exodus, all while scaling IN to the dynamic under a democratic socialist foreigner mayor whose made it public policy racially divisive out of strict preferences to the new and inbound voter body. That combination all leads to only one place. Only one. ☝🏼 You think you can brain drain and pocket dump the people who made NYC rich, replace them with maladapted non-performers (certainly in the immediate term) who all agree on their need for scaling social services and love drawing a target on the back of the white and asian pay-pigs — and still come out with a tier 1 city? If you can still hit and run that city with your early career launch, or your high-end entrepreneurial venture that could generate generational or multi-generational wealth, then sure the city still makes sense. Otherwise if you are a net-tax-payer you are a good little pay-pig there who foots the bill for an increasing population that increasingly doesn’t give a fuck about you. Place will inevitably just be hollowed out and I think the people who laid down roots right now in 2026 with all the writing on the wall are probably the same people who have lived and died within a few miles of their birth their entire existence. Which is much of historical humanity so it’s neither here nor there. I do not count myself among their ranks, I am higher agency, higher mobility, and don’t have time to be that city’s pay-pig since the value proposition has deteriorated so drastically, flat out.

If you love NYC, this data should concern you. The city’s private sector added just 13,000 jobs in 2025 - down from 95,000 the year before. Even in office-based industries that anchor our tax base, growth was essentially flat. The trajectory is clear - raising taxes now would compound a problem that’s already serious.
