I believe @ProfJLake (nice study) would agree- lifting strategies for both barbell and Hex barbell dead lifting may differ based on the coaching methods (technique) and the intent of those methods. Coaches: The trap bar is not always better than the straight bar.
Daniel Berglind, PhD@DanielBerglind

💥 Trap bar > straight bar? ✅ Lift heavier ✅ Generate more power ✅ Involve more muscle ✅ Lower back-friendly Science says: more force, more velocity, more gains. Train smart – get strong. 🧠💪 pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC59… pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21659894/

Want to Study athlete strategies with Augmented Eccentric Loading but only have force platforms? Better give this a read! TLDR: you must combine forward and backward integration to locate dumbbell release! Great work @TommyEliBright and thx for having me on the team!

@StrCoachNetwork I mean, if we’re going to be picky, that’s a hex bar. The trap bar, as invented by Al Gerard in the late 80s (I think) was a trapezoid. I can’t remember who distributed them in the states, but what was Watson Gym Equipment distributed them in the UK. I got mine in 1997. Very cool

Do you program Trapbar deadlift with your athletes? Or do you call it Hexbar deadlift? Maybe you don’t use the movement at all. We have heard from coaches who use it to replace squats. Others use it as posterior chain dominant movement. We would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Let us know down in the comments below. #SCN | #StrengthCoachNetwork | #Education
