Have you had surgery for pelvic organ prolapse, stress urinary incontinence or mesh complications? Are you a UK adult aged 16+? We are recruiting women to complete a questionnaire about the impact of this surgery upon their quality of life: leedsbeckettpsych.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6u…

It was lovely to see our PhD student @DanielleMusson4 present her systematic review as part of the development of a PROM for patients living with primary and secondary antibody deficiencies at the UK PROMs conference. Well done Danielle 😀 🌟! @TrishHolch @ImmunoUK @psycenLBU

@FautMonica @Repro_Fertility @Elango1094 I'd agree @FautMonica but it's permissable to retrieve and use gametes in some countries e.g. some Australian states permit posthumous gamete retrieval because it's governed by the law on organ donation. But there is legal ambiguity and varied practice across the globe #RAFjc

@Profgljones @Repro_Fertility @Elango1094 The quick answer is NO. Just as organ or tissue donations are not made without consent, this situation would follow the same principle. However, this question could indeed pave the way for a new ethical discussion. #RAFjc

No matter how complex the future could be, not raising the issue of fertility loss, and informing the patients about their #fertilitypreservation options, would be a de facto deception by omission. No blanket assumption can be made about a person's capacity. #RaFJC

💪As challenging as it seems, the patients must have all the information to make THEIR OWN decisions. Not informing the patients, is taking them the power of their future. #RAFjc

@Repro_Fertility @FautMonica In response to the second question about time, there will be inevitable time pressures. But, in my opinion 'time pressure' is not a valid reason for withholding the discussion and offer of FP treatment in #cancerpatients with a poor prognosis #RAFjc

Cancer treatments can result in loss of fertility in some patients. 🧐Predicting who's fertility will be affected is challenging as it depends on 👉the patient's age 👉cancer diagnosis 👉treatment regimen. #RaFjc

@Repro_Fertility @FautMonica Interesting questions! In relation to the first question, some will and some won't. As capacity is person and decision specific though, it should not be assumed that all #cancerpatients with a poor prognosis are not capable of making autonomous, informed FP decisions #RAFJC.

@Repro_Fertility Yes, fertility loss is very distressing to cancer patients but also to many others living without cancer. Thinking about fertility preservation, it is often argued that it is not a useful use of scarce resources as fertility is a desire but not a need. What do others think?

🤔Did you know that #cancerpatients report that one of the most distressing side effects of chemotherapy is fertility loss? International guidelines recommend that healthcare teams discuss with patients their fertility future after cancer treatment. #RaFjc

@kieran_walshe So sad to hear that Ray has passed away. He was so kind and supportive to me when I was a postgraduate student and as my D.Phil internal examiner. He was a real inspiration and leader in the field of quality of life measurement and health outcome research. It's such a loss.

Nice when you see someone go from medical student through to securing NTN. Great work Danny! Wonder if the registrar uniforms comes with socks. 🤷‍♂️

@abppc @pratikroy Secondly @iestyn_shapey @Drsampathak for their support in writing and refining the application as well as their support and encouragement throughout. Last but not least @wannabehawkeye. Has opened many doors for me since 2016 and would not be in this position without the push!
