@4thandsaturday How soon before they decide to replace RPI with NPI, which doesn't penalize a team with a good enough record (usually .500 or better) for beating a weak team that causes its rating to go down?

I don’t mean to beat a dead horse but the NCAA literally sent an email to college baseball coaches about canceling games for “cough *RPI reasons cough” on May 6th. Outside of the BCU/UCF game that actually has a weather argument. Here we are one week later:

@RossDellenger If they are considering going to quarters, then why not go one step further and switch to 16-foot-wide lanes? Quarters would also give each game an additional stoppage that allows for the additional advertising mentioned in the bracket expansion...

NCAA committee continues its discussion on potentially moving from two halves to four quarters in men's basketball.

@Randysmith32904 @RossDellenger Going by the text of the proposal, all of the 6-win teams (that have at least five FBS wins) that want to be in bowl games have to be selected first. It's like how it works now, except that the 5-win teams no longer have to be chosen in APR order.

NCAA adopts proposal to permit conferences to choose from their 5-7 teams to fulfill their bowl slots as long as the teams have achieved at least a 930 APR. DI Cabinet must review and adopt.

NCAA FB Oversight Committee today moved forward legislation to eliminate the 2-year postseason probationary period for transitioning FCS teams, sources tell @YahooSports. DI Cabinet now must adopt the change. If adopted, Sac State and ND State would be bowl eligible in 2026.

@RossDellenger Surprised they went with the 6-and-6 opening round, rather than 4 AQs playing for the 16 seeds, and 8 at-larges. Not surprised that they didn't call them Play-Ins.

NEWS: The NCAA is nearing approval for a “franchise tag” system for college football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. Schools would be able to retain one student-athlete on a fully guaranteed 1-year deal, paying top-5 money at their position.

Like 10 D1 schools are dropping Tennis, and the only way to watch the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is a fisheye lens on some courts but not others with no commentary. Maybe the revenue model would make more sense if the NCAA made any attempt to market it?

@astone_1996 @RossDellenger The way I understand it, the #1 seed makes its Semi-Final choice, then the winners of the quarter-finals with the #1 and #4 seeds will play in that semi-final, even if the #1 (and #4, for that matter) team loses its QF. Pretty much what they do now.

Greg Sankey mentions here an interesting adjustment that CFP leaders made for this year where the 1 seed in the playoff has its choice of both its quarterfinal and semifinal bowl locations, followed by the 2 seed having its choice of its path as well.

@PronMastaDON @KP8sRevenge @CFBKings Separate rings for the natty and cfp is a thing but they only go to the winning team. The only difference between 2025 Indiana and 2023 Michigan is, Indiana got an additional ring for playing in an additional game

@CampbellJa1382 @KP8sRevenge @CFBKings Strange - I remember seeing rings for the conference, two bowls, and the national championship. It's possible that I said something like, "they're counting the CFP ring as their second bowl ring." Still not sure that separate CFP and natty rings are allowed.

@PronMastaDON @KP8sRevenge @CFBKings Yes they did. They literally got 4 rings. 1 for the conference, 1 for the rose bowl, 1 for the national championship, and 1 for the cfp. There's literally pictures on Google my guy
