@BitcoinConner @BitcoinPierre I gotta be honest, while we want to open the doors for broader adoption, if there is one cohort that I’m ok not benefiting from Bitcoin is the banks, and all the mindless people who lack the critical thinking to understand why they should want Bitcoin. This is the great filter…

After attending today’s hearing, we reviewed the Fed’s proposal and Bitcoin’s risk weighting remains unchanged for now. That being said, the proposal is a huge step in the right direction and opens the door for further reform. BPI will be submitting a comment to the Federal Reserve shortly on why changing Bitcoin’s treatment is necessary for the long term success of America’s capital markets and free and fair access to the banking system. This is a multi-trillion dollar question that we have to get right. Full proposal can be found online here: federalreserve.gov/newsevents/pre…

FYI This morning the Federal Reserve will release a proposal for revisions to the Basel risk weighting standards. Bitcoin is currently treated as a toxic asset under the Basel standards. A change in the guidance would be a big win for American Bitcoiners. BPI will be in attendance at today’s meeting. We’ll keep you updated on text of the proposal and next steps.

@EleanorTerrett The longer this goes the more complicated (pts of failure) it becomes. Also Lummis probably isnt the most forthright senator in the lot. She's kinda full of shit.

🚨UPDATE: A fresh (and more optimistic) read on where things stand on the yield/rewards issue following today’s GOP market structure meeting, via @SenLummis’ press team: “We’re 99% of the way there on stablecoin yield, and negotiations on the digital asset portions of the bill are in a good place. Senator Lummis believes today’s meeting was very productive and positive. We have heard feedback from colleagues on the need to resolve housing and community banking issues, and Senator Lummis is working hard on that.” On those housing/community banking issues, @Jasper_Goodman reports Senate Banking Republicans are now discussing adding community bank deregulatory provisions to the Clarity Act in exchange for the House accepting the Senate’s housing package in its current form. I also confirmed this idea was brought up in today’s meeting. Link to the @politico story on that below.
Eleanor Terrett@EleanorTerrett

🚨NEW: After a Senate Republican meeting on crypto market structure attended by White House Crypto Council Executive Director @patrickjwitt, @SenLummis told reporters negotiations around yield/rewards are making progress but remain “in a delicate state,” with the focus shifting from imminent legislative text to “who we need to be reaching out to.” “I think some major light bulbs were switched on during this meeting. So, there's a path forward that is not a path that I would have expected to encounter when I walked in the room,” said Lummis. Patrick Witt, who emerged from the meeting looking frustrated, had no comment on the meeting. @SenatorTimScott emerged, smiling as always, but declined to comment, noting he doesn’t speak to reporters in the hallways.

I'm going to make some obvious points. (1) Blowing up all the oil infrastructure in the Middle East is an insane idea, and may well result in a global economic crash and humanitarian crisis unrivaled in the lives of those now living. We're talking about the price of everything everywhere rising, from food to gas, at a moment when inflation was already high. All of that will be laid at the feet of the authors of this war. (2) The antebellum status quo of Feb 27, 2026 was just not that bad, but we're unlikely to return to it. Expect indefinite, long-term, ongoing disruptions to everything out of the Middle East. (3) Also assume tech financing crashes for the indefinite future. The genius plan to get the Gulf states caught in the crossfire has incinerated much of the funding for LPs, for datacenters, and for IPOs. Anyone in tech who supported this war may soon learn the meaning of "force majeure" as funding gets yanked. (4) Many capital allocators will instead be allocating much further down Maslow's hierarchy of needs, towards useful basic things like food and energy. (5) It's fortunate that all those progressives yelled about the "climate crisis." Yes, their reasoning about timelines was wrong, and much of the money was wasted in graft, but the result was right: we all need energy independence from the Middle East, pronto. It's also fortunate that Elon and China autistically took climate seriously. Now they're going to need to ship a billion solar panels, electric vehicles, batteries, nuclear power plants, and the like to get everyone off oil, immediately. (6) It's not just an oil and gas problem, of course. It's also a fertilizer problem, and a chemical precursor problem. Maybe some new sources will come online at the new prices, but it takes time to dial stuff up, particularly at this scale, so shortages are almost a certainty. That said, China has actually scaled up coal-to-chemicals[a,c] (C2C), and there's also something more sci-fi called Power-to-X[b] which turns arbitrary power + water + air into hydrocarbons. But all of that will need to get accelerated. I have a background in chemical engineering so may start funding things in this area. (7) Ultimately, this war is going to result in tremendous blame for anyone associated with it. It's a no-win scenario to blow up this much infrastructure for so many people. Simply not worth it for whatever objective they thought they were going to attain. But unless you're actually in a position to stop the madness, the pragmatic thing to do is: scramble to mitigate the fallout to yourself, your business, and your people. It should be obvious to everyone that the economic picture drastically changes if Iran is successful in destroying energy infrastructure across the Middle East. The short-term implications will get most of the headlines, but the long-term calculus feels more important. How do you build infrastructure in a region where an adversarial country can fly a cheap drone packed with explosives into your facility? How do you discount the risk of a persistent, decentralized threat? The rise of drones and counter-drone technology is going to be one of the most important aspects of commercial activity in the region. You have to protect against the new threat or you risk your entire business being destroyed at near zero cost to the attacker. Just as "information warfare" simply became "information," we are going to see the "battlefield" become "operational security." This is a big reason why I am excited about the prospects of $ONDS as a shareholder. We need American companies that own, operate, and scale drone technology, while having counter-drone capabilities deployed across commercial and military use cases. This entire sector will only get more important over time.

🚨 REPORT: Iran has been divided into multiple operational zones—reportedly 32—across which Israeli and U.S. aircraft either operate separately or in concert, depending on mission requirements. Officials also state that the attack on Iran’s South Pars gas and oil fields was closely coordinated with U.S. forces, with strategic alignment on timing and targeting to maximize disruption of Iranian regime revenue sources and infrastructure while managing broader escalation risks. Follow @MOSSADil for continued updates on the strategic framework of Israel–U.S. operations in Iran.

This was a very good question from Ryan - why does the Universe on the largest scales resemble the Universe on the smallest scales? The answer, for the case of the distribution of galaxies on the sky, is that the pattern we see has its origin in quantum mechanical fluctuations during inflation - before the hot big bang (at least according to inflationary cosmology, which is the most widely accepted model at present). Hail Mary is a very good film by the way :-)

I don’t get it. If Hezbollah had flats in this block (unlikely in central Beirut but not impossible) why did the Israelis give everyone inside an hour to get out — including those they wanted to kill? And if there weren’t any Hezbollah people there, why destroy a building with dozens of civilians in it?
The Associated Press@AP

An Israeli airstrike struck an apartment building in central Beirut, on Wednesday. The Israeli army had warned residents to evacuate about an hour before completely flattening it as day broke.
