I'm putting together a high school laboratory basics textbook with an Amazon equipment list. I think these are the cheapest "knockoff" Eppendorf tubes I can find. amzn.to/3Yqct4T

Has anyone tried these super cheap Amazon Pipetteman??...they have a pretty good lookin 2uL and 10uL for MALDI spotting ...I gotta give it a try amzn.to/4dipSjO

Copper conductive double sided tape on Amazon. Low priced alternative for anyone MALDI imaging non-conductive stuff. Didn't peel off even after spraying matrix and in/out of the Bruker Ultraflex ultra low vacuum! Good stuff! amzn.to/4blUcIK via @amazon

@JohnRYatesIII @asmsnews Most of our group and many other people I talked to did not like Anaheim. Felt very isolated and nothing really to do/see except for Disneyland. Very limited food options around the convention center. I woudl prefer a different place.

@massspecpro @asmsnews The prices in SoCal may shock most people...just a little warning that everything will be more expensive than you could possibly imagine...and Anaheim is the most affordable in the OC.

To anyone else attending #asms2024 and trying to get the discounted Disneyland tickets, the one day ticket price listed at the start of the process is bogus. It's way higher than $97. It's more like $160-170. @asmsnews

@Pdorrestein1 @KnightLabNews Maybe you have an opinion on the high conc. of Taurine in energy drinks and how it effects bile acid conjugation??

Excited that the perspective on bile acid modifications with @KnightLabNews is out. It is aimed to be a bit provocative. IMO - we need to rewrite and update all biochemistry textbooks. These are some of the most important molecules in biology. See rdcu.be/dDHoC

@MethaneThiol Buddy, it is a key element in my ASMS abstract this very year. "Pyrolysis and Thermal Extraction of Polymeric Materials with Suction-driven, Real-time Chemical Ionization Sources and Rapid Polarity Switching"

Rapid in-method polarity switching is one of those features we all think is nice but don’t use much

@ProteinMassSpec Wouldn't that skew the estimate of the total amounts of that peptide present in the sample?? Sometimes, the highest charge state peak area is relatively smaller compared to its smaller charge states..

A very basic Q.. if a peptide is identified in two charge states, to get the peptide quan, would you average the XIC area of both charges or add the respective XIC area?? Shouldn't it be the latter as the total peptide is separated into two different m/z here?? #TeamMassSpec

@chrashwood @njbirse @Oblivious_ I see the MRT as a top down sequencing tool. The higher resolution helps determine charge state of large fragments and it has almost no noise. I've seen some very impressive data from @JoeLoo85614818

@kevinzemaitis Oh no. Is that a Bruker MALDI outer transfer stage? Hardest repair ever...aligning the transfer arm on spike.

@J_my_sci @yumingjiang94 "MS-DIAL" software website offers some database download that contains MS/MS, like several hundred thousand metabolites. Unfortunately it is still too small for metabolomics studies. If you are lucky, you may get 100 hits.

#TeamMassSpec I'm relatively new to the world of deconvoluting low resolution intact protein spectra to get an average molecular mass. What's a reasonable expectation (e.g. from short transient orbitrap data for an IgG)?
