@YankeeSource Oh but they are. There is a contingency of Yankee fans that never say die for homegrown players. Every time he goes 3-4 they start spiking the ball and yeeting to no end. Same people who told us Greg Bird was a can’t miss and Gary Sanchez was a baseball god.

I don’t think anyone is fully buying into Volpe yet. The Yankees are getting results right now with him, and they have had issues with McMahon at third. They could have Caballero (3B) and Volpe (SS) play together more often, and the defense would not take a step back. Ride the hot hand, and reassess if Volpe does regress back.
HedgeHider@HedgeHider1978

@YankeeSource We have 3 YEARS of evidence on Volpe yet we’re still making the same exact mistake every time has an impressive short sample. #Yankees

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Yankee starter as dominant for this long of a stretch as Cam Schlittler. Just so special

@rationalyankee So, you’re saying he was a contact hitter from day 1 and that’s why he has a career ops+ well below 100?

Do people not realize that swinging for contact is what made Anthony Volpe bad in the first place? If you want him to hit for contact instead of power, you’re advocating for the 2025 version of him and you’re also saying you never actually believed in him as a prospect. Being able to hit for power from the SS position is what made Volpe a top 10 prospect. He should keep trying to do that.
jj jones@faley_mike

@rationalyankee After tonight he will K 3 times tomorrow. He went back to swinging for the fences instead for contact

@rationalyankee He’s had his opportunity. They are basically the same player. Volpe is a fringe major leaguer, same with gentleman. Neither should be the starting shortstop for any major league team.

I think as long as Anthony Volpe is playing well, he should get the vast majority of the starts at SS. At his best, he’s a better player than Caballero. He needs the opportunity to prove he can perform at his best for a sustained period. Especially when he’s healthy. Caballero is incredibly useful as a utility player and pinch runner. It makes the Yankees better to keep him in that role. They can play him at 3B against LHP also. If Volpe goes back to what he was last season, then we can restart this conversation. But for now, I think he needs to play everyday.

McMahon’s defensive regression was not expected this year. Does it make sense to move him at the deadline and eat some $$$? Upgrade the roster spot in an other form.

@PuckerTheCat @eyyankees What? I’m missing something about what Ben Rice and Pete Crow Armstrong have to do with Volpe? Yes Rice is a batter hitter. But no one with even a slight knowledge of baseball would be surprised an elite defensive player like PCA may be as valuable as a one dimensional hitter

Anthony Volpe was put in a difficult spot when the Yanks opted to demote him after his rehab stint. He didn’t pout, he didn’t have an outburst, he took his demotion the right way. Since getting the call he has made the most of his opportunity. He may not be the everyday SS like we had envisioned but doesn’t mean he can’t be a key contributor to this team.
Everything Yankees@eyyankees

Anthony Volpe comes thru with his first career go-ahead hit when trailing in the 9th inning or later.

@tiz71 Agree with this take. Difficult to watch 1 and 2 run games constantly. Bottom of the lineup has been really bad. Maybe the worst 7-8-9 in their history.

I can remember at least 48 Yankees teams. And there were some bad ones. This one has to be the most boring shitty baseball teams I’ve ever watched. Hal has no idea because he doesn’t give a shit. Keeps Cashman and Boone around. Terrible org

@PuckerTheCat @eyyankees He’s not below replacement level as a player, only a hitter. There is a difference. He is an 8.6 WAR player over just over three seasons. That’s above an average player. Plus he’s still young. He absolutely can be a guy who has a role, even if it’s a utility role.

Bobby meecham who none of you little pricks even heard of was a @Yankees SS for 6 years & I thought he was the worst hitter I’ve ever physically seen. his career ended at 27 because he sucked his career batting average is 50 points higher than Grishams THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!

Am I hallucinating? Game on the line, runners in scoring position, two strikes, and Volpe actually goes up there with a good approach and gets the job done. I'm speechless

@openart_ai @TeamYouTube @YouTube does this kind of thing all the time. This is @Google signature move. They just dare people to litigate so they can stomp them out. Businesses and consumers alike should avoid them at all costs. There have been horror stories since the mid 2000s with them and Adsense.

I mean Aaron Judge is just killing you in this stretch. He hasn't done anything of note offensively and it's legitimately slaughtering any chance they have in these games.

Well, they have been a bit cold at the plate, however that comes and goes. I’d rather see a slump now than in Sept or Oct. I get your point and it’s hard to argue. Their starting pitching has been the best in the majors and it’ll carry them in the postseason. Another bat like Tatis (at a huge discount) would help.
