📌 Fellowship Past Projects: The @niceaunties AI video grant winner (Released in 2024) How to Make a Blade Whisper by @PuffYachty A year ago, @PuffYachty launched How to Make a Blade Whisper, a collection of eight AI videos. The project came from the Niceaunties × Fellowship AI Video Grant, which gave artists time, support, and resources to explore ideas freely. For this series, Puff took inspiration from The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi, a guide written in the seventeenth century about mastering the way of the sword. Musashi believed real skill starts in the mind — that fighting isn't just about strength, but about awareness, adaptability, and instinct. Puff brings these ideas to life by following a lone student as they move through training, dreams, and deep sleep. As the journey unfolds, the student starts to see the world itself as something flexible, almost like a simulation written in code. Visually, the videos stick to cool shades of steel blue and charcoal, with sudden flashes of red when the sword cuts through the air or the image glitches. These glitches aren’t mistakes — they’re part of the story. Instead of hiding the imperfections of AI video, Puff shows them, reminding us that we’re both inside the dream and watching how it’s made. Artists in the past also explored similar ideas using paint or film — Zen paintings of monks, Surrealist films that blur dreams and reality. Puff’s work follows that tradition, but uses new tools like prompts, diffusion models, and AI voice cloning to create a new kind of storytelling.

Where We Started / Where We Are Now It feels like just yesterday we were sketching out the Daily Program on texts in Discord and late-night calls. Back then, we had this bold idea: to document the growth of AI art every single day, capturing the excitement, the uncertainty, and the constant evolution of the tools we were all so curious about. It started off with a simple premise—share the creative process as it unfolded, in real time, through the perspective of diverse artists experimenting with these new tools. We believed in the power of consistent, daily exposure to innovation, hoping it would spark conversations, collaborations, and above all, the possibility of new creative pathways. and kinda, we did it. 🤞 Looking back, it’s funny how we thought we’d have all the time in the world—but the Daily Program flew by. From impromptu community hangouts where we’d geek out over fresh prompts, to late-night submission reviews, it was a whirlwind of ideas. We witnessed artists from different backgrounds lean into new AI tools with fearless abandon, forging vibrant works that, to this day, feel like artifacts of a rare moment in time. When the Daily Program officially ended in October 2024, it felt bittersweet. We had gathered thousands of pieces and a tapestry of friendships. Yet, in that ending, we also saw the seeds of something new. We realized our journey was only just beginning. Today, in the second phase—our Daily Highlights Program—we want to revisit those pivotal moments, curating them with fresh eyes, and elevating the pieces that opened our minds and hearts. Now, as we reflect on where we’ve been, we can’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia and gratitude. The Daily Program served as both a live experiment and a living archive, capturing the early days of AI-driven art at its most raw and unfiltered. We’re eager to see how a new generation of artists and innovators will respond to the work we’ve spotlighted and carry those sparks forward. @PuffYachty That's good... but if takes a wrong turn at step 3 in the reasoning, me manually editing just step 3 doesn't work since then step 4 etc are also wrong...

Seeing chain of thought is wonderful. Soon someone will realize that I would want to click on a moment in this chain of thought - pause it, adjust it - let it resume from there, adjusted into what I want.
