Yesterday, @PurdueEngineers concluded its 150th anniversary by sealing a time capsule on the front lawn of Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering, a tribute to 150 years of bold innovation, engineering excellence, global impact, and #Boilermaker spirit. The capsule, containing records, photos, and memorabilia from across all schools of Engineering, was buried beneath a plaque to be opened in 2074. The ceremony, led by John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering, Arvind Raman, marked both reflection and momentum toward Vision 2030 – to be the nation’s most consequential engineering college. In this sesquicentennial year, Purdue Engineering became the largest top 5-ranked engineering college in the U.S., launched pioneering programs in space, AI tech stack, motorsports, and sustainability -- advancing its land-grant mission across Indiana and beyond. “Fifty years from now, our letter and artifacts will remind them that everything to come out of these consequential programs started with us,” said Raman. “Their present day will look a lot different from ours, but one thing will stand the test of time: Boilermakers are always striving for that next giant leap, always making a consequential impact on the world.” #PurdueEngineering150 #TheNextGiantLeap #Boilermakers
