@etspaceman89 I love his podcast, just think his writing was revolutionary for the time. I’m fairly critical of the pod because it’s one of my favorites.

This was an interesting coverage that the Celtics deployed early on and I see how it resulted in a turnover by Donte. Notice Queta stays in a deep drop, while Tatum switches onto Donte. White peels onto Rudy. Donte sees and tries to kick to Jaden but White anticipates.

This was a particularly interesting find for me after listening to @DaneMooreNBA and @JaceFrederick 's segment on what Rudy needs to do for the Wolves to make a big run. One item? The offensive glass.

Rudy Gobert's OREB numbers pop here as well. He is leading the league post ASB in this category. Some of that is due to other Wolves players being less efficient, giving him more opportunity. Still, it stands out.

Timberwolves post ASG statistics — Julius Randle's efficiency has tanked. — Jaden McDaniels is seeing regression to the mean with his 3P shooting. — Naz Reid is amidst a shooting slump after a torrid January. — Bones Hyland's 3P shooting has popped. — Kyle Anderson at 16.9 MPG.

Great fit in Chicago obviously. But there's some other teams that fit this mold as well. Indiana, Golden State, Miami, Atlanta and Utah all fit this mold as well.

The Bulls have a really tiny roster construction, and lack true 5s. So he's been given the role for the rest of the season. I love that he's been able to put something on tape. And I see a future for him on teams that value pace from their bigs.

Leonard Miller has been given a real opportunity to showcase his skillset in Chicago. He's been up to the task. I've always seen him as a tweener 5, and I think these clips show his value in the painted area.

@badanglebball Yeah I try not to look ahead too much in these because you never know what each round will bring. Injuries and upsets can and will change the whole landscape. So if I'm looking at it, I'm purely looking at the first round.

@etspaceman89 To me the most enticing thing is SA in the second round as opposed to OKC just because they haven’t been there before. But there won’t be an easy route in the west and the spurs have been a machine as well

Would you rather the wolves: A) be the 6th seed and play LAL 1st rd then SA 2nd rd? OR B) be 4th seed and play DEN 1st rd w/ home court advantage then OKC 2nd rd?

Not every statistical outlier is representative on film. Ayo is a great example. And not every impactful player comes through in the metrics. Look at someone like Kyle Anderson, who clearly provides value but it's nowhere to be seen in many metrics.

Stats and analytics have come a long way in basketball. But that doesn't make it a source of truth. If you see some statistical outliers, try to understand why by watching film. And conversely if you see something that pops on film, try to see how it measures.
Chris Hine@ChristopherHine

Respect the spreadsheets crowd, but the Ayo stuff reminds me a bit of what Tim Connelly faced when deciding to re-sign Naz Reid after the 22-23 season. Reid was -6.5, -6.7, -7.8 the previous 3 seasons per Cleaning the Glass in on/off. Connelly trusted his eyes over the sheets.
