@aDissentient Gas boilers only achieve 90% efficiency in perfect lab conditions. Most run between 60 & 75%. Some modern condensing boilers have a digital display panel telling you what efficiency they're operating at - and it ain't 85% Main reason is they're oversized for DHW flow rates.

1. This is implying that a gas boiler is 85% efficient. This is much less than modern boilers achieve. 2. The ratio of electricity to gas prices is currently 4.6, implying that Octopus heat pumps don't in fact deliver operating gains. 3. The capital cost of heat pumps is high, so Octopus heat pumps are not economically rational.
Greg Jackson@g__j

Not a study, not a survey - but the actual live data from every @OctopusEnergy Cosy heat pump installed in real homes is now online. And it shows that over 80% of Cosy heat pumps were cheaper to run than a gas boiler over the last year and delivered a COP of 3.7 over the whole year (about 4.3x more efficient than a gas boiler) There’s so much disinformation from fossil fuel lobbyists on heat pumps - and anecdote based on bad installs or out of date tech - but we hear time and time again how much Octopus customer la love their heat pumps. Cosy heat pumps can run as hot as a boiler (70C+), can often be installed with no radiator changes and no new insulation, work with microbore piping, can often retain your old hot water tank if you have one. But so much more - comfort sensors in up to ten rooms, optional remote support and servicing, software updates to literally make your heating better without a visit. Effortlessly working with smart tariffs to save money. British designed, British manufactured and thousands of great British jobs. Helping insulate Brits from the last gas crisis, this gas crisis and more to come. See the data for yourself: octopus.energy/cosy-heat-pump…

@Defence_Index If this jet gets built correctly, it will be the most advanced fighter jet ever created, and I mean that, with no over exaggeration, this will be able to use AI to anticipate where the pilot enemy aircraft will be. And it will take combat stress off the pilot,

We aren’t. Neither is America. War has not been declared, this is a limited military operation to take out the terrorist Islamist regime that has held Iran’s 90million souls hostage under sharia law, kidnapped, raped, tortured and executed them for 47 years. The regime threatened to wipe America off the map, and to ass@ssinate president Trump (two attempts already). Iranian people begged US for help to set themselves free - they are being set free. Tell her to celebrate. The Iranian people are.

@willnorman @EnfieldCouncil @JourneysPlaces Why stop at 20mph, by your logic if we reduce the speed to 10mph even more people will survive. Or better still remove all vehicles altogether and remove all casualties. God help this country with pratt's like you!

You are five times more likely to survive being hit by a driver doing 20mph vs a driver doing 30mph. Great to see Enfield rolling out new life saving 20mph zones. Slow down. Slower speeds save lives. #VisionZeroLDN. 👏👏@EnfieldCouncil @JourneysPlaces

@Austinescapee @GuntherEagleman Not even close. Europe will move closer to China, India & even Russia, leaving the USA increasingly isolated. I'm surprised China hasn't made a move on Taiwan whilst the USA is overstretched trying to defeat Iran.

I’m thinking you and President Trump (and millions of others) are on the same page. I posted a week ago that a year from now, the shift in what countries we align with will look radically different than it does now. China will be much more isolated on the world stage, Western Europe will be on their own, footing their defense, Easter Europe will be a close ally, much of the Middle East will be signatories on the Abraham Accords, Cuba will either be a protectorate or a close ally, Venezuela will be rocking and have a representative government, Taiwan will feel very little heat from China, and Canada, with the possible exception of Alberta, will be closer to a third world country than anyone ever imagined possible.

@Coinvo Just spent 3 days in the centre of Los Angeles, and was surprised to see driverless cars operating throughout the city. A company called Waymo operates a fully driverless ride hailing service covering 90 square miles. Hadn't realised the technology had advanced so far.

@TheSolarShed @InclusiveBuild Because solar produces nothing when it's dark and only around one third of its rated capacity in the 8 hours of daylight in the middle of winter, when we need the power the most.

@InclusiveBuild 6% of uk land use is urbanised. 7% is grouse Moore 4% is golf and other recreational use. 38% farmed. Food grows under solar panels. We have been growing fuel for generations. You're just scared that we'll stop using fossils. Why is that?

Covering 3% of the UK with solar would generate as much electricity as the UK uses in a year. We have the solutions.

@astraiaintel No, we don’t do anything in the straight then the EU is out of oil. U.S. self sufficient. Iran and other gulf states will remember Europe’s unwillingness to help. EU will be shut out of gulf markets. Oh yeah, oil will cost more for the EU.

I've never listened to a podcast for more than 3 or 4 minutes. I don't have the patience to listen to people ramble on while I wait for them to talk about something I might be interested in. I'm not sure there's ever been a less efficient way to transmit information.
