📢NHS England just published 10 new systematic evidence reviews on PB and CSH for binary and “non-binary” youth. Because of the weak evidence, the NHS paused new cross-sex hormones prescriptions and is conducting a 90-day consultation to review evidence for a potential permanent ban. /1

The Australian: “Six of Australia’s eight states and territories have refused to release any data on the number of children prescribed puberty blockers to treat gender dysphoria, maintaining a veil of secrecy that prevents proper oversight of the highly controversial treatment.” https://archive.md/v7Orq “It compares with about 2000 UK children who received puberty blockers through what was then the country’s only pediatric gender clinic, Tavistock, between 2009 and 2020. Australia’s population is about 40 per cent of the UK’s.”

Progress for women doesn't happen by chance. It happens by choice. And the incredible women in our Labor government are helping drive that progress every day. That's why I'm proud to lead Australia's first government with the majority of women. Cheaper child care. Extending paid parental leave with super applied on top. 33 endo and pelvic pain clinics. Making contraception and menopause medicines cheaper. And this week, closing the gender pay gap to a new record low. There's more to do - and we'll keep working every day to deliver progress for women.

Doctors should always engage in a continuous cycle of self audit. Did I get the diagnosis right? Did I choose the right intervention? Could I have managed that better? Could the patient have had a better outcome with a different treatment? If we cease to consider all possibilities it becomes not medicine but blind ideological adherence.

Professor Riittakerttu Kaltiala has been studying & treating young patients with Transgender issues for many years. Australian Drs need to talk to her to discuss her results.

I continue to find it extraordinary that publicly funded health services behave as if they are beyond the reach of regulation and have no responsibility to comply with requests for information concerning the most vulnerable members of society.

All but one of the UK’s adult gender clinics declined to share data for a Cass-recommended long-term outcomes study of 9,000+ people referred to youth gender services. Today, the UK Health Secretary laid a new Order enabling disclosure of this data so the study can proceed. /1

Cairns gender clinic review reveals kids as young as 12 were started on puberty blockers with no proper assessments, no informed consent, missing tests, and almost zero mental health input. Extraordinary to read this article in the Australian by journalist @rachelbaxendale. Clinicians in Cairns were clearly going through the same ordeal as I was - being labelled as ‘aggressive’ and ‘transphobic’ for raising legitimate concerns about gender interventions for minors. I wonder why health minister @TimNichollsMP isn’t more sympathetic to my situation. It was unjust for @childhealthqld to suspend me. It’s all going to come out in court. @DebFrecklington @JarrodBleijieMP @DavidCrisafulli
