I’m going to be honest: if a general election is called tomorrow or soon, I’ll support whichever party has a realistic chance of getting Labour out. It doesn’t matter who. We cannot survive many more years of a Labour government.

@omgsidewalks After hundreds of years of so-called progress, we still have people who struggle with basic essentials.

Capitalism has somehow convinced people that working full time and still being broke is completely normal.

@BenGrahamUK It's a FPTP election against 33 candidates that would normally lose their deposit anywhere. Of course he should win with a landslide. Will he get more votes than 2024 though?

Arrogance, naivety and bad advice led to Gianni Infantino’s ill-conceived plan. Arrogance, naivety and bad advice are surely why Infantino has not tendered his resignation yet. He's discredited, UEFA’s ratcheting up the pressure and his exit's inevitable. Just a question of when.

@dave43law If he can't win a FPTP election landslide against 33 candidates, none from any parties posing a real threat, and no celeb independents, then he should give up.

@GitAwkward @DaveKent101 Blair had his children at a state school the other side of London. He knew it made sense! But the original change was 1988. Schools were given powers to basically set their own catchment. I don't think Blair changed that, although he did bring in specialist academies.

@QuestionerMoney @DaveKent101 IR35 was introduced by Gordon Brown and getting rid of the local catchment areas and it was "unfair" was again Bliar and Brown.

People sometimes ask me why I detest Labour? Much of that goes back to their destruction of Private Sector Final Salary Pension schemes in 1997. In 2008, 10 years after Gordon Brown carried out his disastrous ACT Pensions grand larceny by removing tax relief paid to pension funds. This was found by the Taxpayers Alliance to had cost an average of £17K on every person's pension pot. In just 10 years, this had cost Private Sector Final Salary schemes £175 BILLION. Hence their closures ever since. Had this grotesque theft of peoples' pensions not taken place, then the pension system in the UK would be much healthier, without people having to work into their late 60s.🤨 As a final insult, this tax does not raise any money these days anyway because many UK pension funds stopped investing in UK companies, so as to avoid this tax. All the while Public Sector worked continue to enjoy Final Salary Pensions, paid for by Private Sector workers on smaller DC pensions. Absolutely obscene.

@GitAwkward @DaveKent101 Ok, but IR35 was tightened far more recently than Brown. Affected a lot of self employed working contracts.

@HarryDecote @DaveKent101 Unless you have your own special pension all to yourself there has never been a Civil or Public sector pension that gives 3 times final salary on retirement. Old Classic: 40 years service with salary of £40k would give pension of £20k, lump sum £60k, not lump sum of £120k.

@LeRef5 @HarryDecote @DaveKent101 I don't think we're talking NICs here, which are as you say. It sounds like a scheme such as teachers get, which is partly contributory.

@HarryDecote @DaveKent101 You didn't fund it. You made a contribution to those receiving pensions at the time. There no lot of money with your name on it

@HarryDecote @DaveKent101 Career average is fairer. I knew someone who got a big promotion just before retirement, meaning his pension was based on a salary he had for less than a year. That's a massive funding shortfall.

@DaveKent101 Would have been fairer to put public sector on the same footing as private ie force them to end final salary for all public sector.. make them have dc schemes
