This👇is quite extraordinary, showing how much Trump is uniting Europeans on all sides 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 him Elly Schlein, Leader of Italy's largest opposition party, (herself 50/50🇮🇹🇺🇸) furiously condemns Trump's attacks on her opponent Meloni. The whole Chamber stands up to applaud the whole time. My English s/t👇 "Italy is a free and sovereign country. Our Constitution is clear - Italy repudiates war. No foreign Head of State has the right to attack, threaten or disrespect our country or government. We are opponents in this Chamber, but we are all Italian citizens and Italian MPs. We are asking for unanimous condemnation of these attacks and threats"

Two women, in their own driveway, had assault rifles pointed at them. ICE agents broke their car window with a rifle stock and dragged them out. No warrant. No crime. Just retaliation for observing.

Late to this. When I saw it last week I just dismissed it as random slop from some juvenile MAGA account. I just learned that the President of the United States himself posted this image of a map with Canada as part of the USA. He did so *before* PM Carney spoke at Davos. Our sovereignty is not a joke. Those who went before us overcame huge adversity to build Canada as a proud, distinctive, albeit improbable country. A country that, despite its real flaws, is regarded as a beacon of opportunity & ordered liberty around the world. I cannot understand the attitude of some Canadians - especially some of my fellow Conservatives - who are indifferent to this constant mockery and belittlement by the head of state of what used to be our closest ally. In any normal time, this👇alone would be a major diplomatic incident that would result in démarching the US Ambassador, possibly recalling our own Ambassador for consultations, international and congressional condemnation, etc.. But Trump has dumbed down deviancy so much that another threat to annex a free & sovereign neighbour goes almost unnoticed. And yet we have quislings here who blame Canada for having provoked this unhinged behaviour. Who cannot understand why Canadians are anxious and insulted. Who dismiss as a distraction Trump’s threat to “use economic force” to annex Canada; or his actual use of such force to disrupt our economy; or to insult the honour of our fallen soldiers. No, this is not the “art of the deal.” No, it’s not “just a joke.” No, it’s not “Trump Derangement Syndrome” to be disgusted by constant threats toward and denigration of our country. To the blame Canada crowd: have some respect. If not for yourself, then for those who built this country, and those who died for it.

Miller, Bovino, Noem and others at DHS and ICE are withholding the names of the agents who shot and collaborated in the murder of Pretti. They also have engaged in intimidation of witnesses and withholding, perhaps destruction, of evidence. All of these are crimes. Federal and State. We know that DOJ will do nothing. The state needs to bring charges against these criminals.

Since July, I've tracked at least 2,300 cases in which federal judges have ruled ICE has illegally detained people without bond or due process. This is one that stands out: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

Claiming that risk from vaccines is greater than the threat from disease has led to highest rate of measles in decades. Undermining faith in polio vaccine will lead to paralyzed children. What others are doing will be blamed on President Trump. Unfair but true. statnews.com/2026/01/22/vac…

I just put Republicans on the record in the Rules Committee—forcing votes on amendments in an attempt to: ❌Prohibit the U.S. government from invading a NATO ally. Every Republican voted no. ❌Prohibit the president from preemptively attacking another country without congressional authorization. Every Republican voted no. ❌Restrain Trump’s paramilitary secret police force & protect Americans’ civil rights from ICE. Every Republican voted no. Shameful & pathetic.

Thank you to the @StarTribune and its photographers, reporters and editors for documenting what federal agents are doing to the people of Minnesota. Day in, day out, sometimes in clouds of tear gas, you get the facts and get the photo. You make journalism proud.
Steve Grove@grove

The stunning images coming from the streets of Minnesota demand attention in this ongoing crisis. The Minnesota @StarTribune photographers & reporters are documenting this moment for the world to see, and we want to be sure their work travels far. Take a moment to look at the inhumanity captured in this extraordinary photo running on the front page of tonight's Minneapolis @StarTribune. It shows federal immigration agents immobilizing a protester on the ground and spraying chemical irritant directly into his face. The scene reminds me of the brutality used against civil rights protesters in the 1960s. We look back at those old photos and wonder how the authorities could have behaved so savagely; many years from now, young Americans will look at these photos from 2026 and wonder how anyone could have justified shooting a woman in the head as she tried to drive away, arresting 5-year-old schoolchildren on the street, or holding a man down and spaying chemicals into his face. Thanks to the Star Tribune reporters and photographers for documenting this work; they create accountability, they make democracy work, and they make all of us in journalism proud.
