@NeedlesslyWordy Dude are serious? How old are you? Did you not order pizza growing up? It wasn't a luxury for rich people lol. It was just something you did when mom and dad were working late or tired

In a study of people with generalized anxiety disorder, only 8.6% of recorded worries actually happened. The most common outcome: 0%. Not a single worry came true.

You can't complain about boomers having it easier in their early 20s if you aren't willing to live like the boomers did when they were in their early 20s

Bill Watterson, the creator of Calvin and Hobbes is an interesting figure in my life. On the one hand, Calvin and Hobbes is, for my money, the greatest newspaper strip of all time. I wish I had one tenth of this man's talent. I still think back on how the stories he told got me through some of the rough patches in my childhood by giving me this example of another kid with a vivid imagination who was a bit of a loner (depending on what your views on Hobbes are) who I could identify with. On the other hand, I'm on the complete opposite side of the scale from him when it comes to our views on licensing and comics as a business. He had in his mind the notion that seeing a comic book character made into a toy and put on a store shelf cheapens it somehow. I think that's idiotic. Seeing a character in different contexts is what makes it into an enduring part of the culture. Watterson was inspired greatly in his work by Peanuts, which was extensively licensed out. I, as someone born decades later than Watterson, wouldn't have any connection to Peanuts at all if not for the holiday specials. Licensing keeps characters alive. Meanwhile, I'm worried that Calvin and Hobbes is starting to fade away as a new generation grows up without it. But maybe I'm also just salty that my childhood wish to see a Calvin and Hobbes movie about "the noodle incident" never came true.

$28 lunches make more sense when you realize that over 25% of millennials can't make a cake from a box mix and under a third of young adults feel confident in the kitchen The loss of the American family table has led to the growth of the "cooking illiterate"

💢 The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society says Israel has turned the detention, abuse, and torture of international solidarity activists into official policy, accusing Israeli authorities of using the seizure of activists from the Sumoud convoy and Freedom Flotilla to send a global message of intimidation against support for Palestine. The statement came as Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posted video from Ashdod Port showing detained flotilla activists being mocked and physically restrained under the caption: “Welcome to Israel.” Ben-Gvir is seen waving an Israeli flag and declaring, “We are the owners of the house,” while another clip shows an activist shouting “Free Palestine” being shoved to the ground and told to “Shut up.” Other footage shows detainees forced to kneel face-down and marched with their hands zip-tied and heads bent. PPS said the scenes reflect some of the same humiliation and abuse routinely inflicted on Palestinians inside Israeli prisons, which it described as “one of the most prominent arenas of systematic genocide” under Ben-Gvir’s direction. Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani demanded an apology over the treatment of Italian citizens aboard the flotilla, calling it a “total disrespect” of their dignity. Adalah said Israel is enforcing a “criminal policy of abuse and humiliation” against activists confronting Israel’s crimes in Gaza.
