@SawyerMerritt We just need larger EVs for larger families with good range! Please Tesla! If I have another kid, which we plan to do, I’ll have to get a gas vehicle to accommodate all 5 of us. None of the other EV SUVs are good enough for me to buy them, so it’s hybrid/gas.

Not really, that’s a solid survey size. At a 95% confidence level that would give a variance of around +- .25% (meaning the actual value is between .25% and .75% of drivers) which is still less than one, which I believe is the point. To take that down to a +- of .10% you’d need a survey of 20,000ish people. That’s a lot more people for not a big change. Note, the above numbers are rough, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a statistics class. Should communicate the gist of it though.

Why? Aesthetics? Need to tow long ranges or in very rural areas? There are certainly still use cases where electric doesn’t yet have the infrastructure needed or isn’t the best fit, don’t think anyone denies that. In those cases, electric wasn’t really ever a viable replacement. In the case where it is, and people really do have a choice between the two, I believe that’s where electric is winning 9/10 times. Also, do you really drive 800 miles without stopping? For me, that’s not just further than I want to go without stopping, that’s well past take a plane range.

@SawyerMerritt I did. Bought a f150 with range of 800 miles on a tank. It was 50% less than a cyber truck. Still have my Tesla wife drives it

@ResidentSponge @ntwork Well, good for them. I still don’t really see a long term path for them though. Great, so they can get through, say the next 12 months…what then? Not like they’re going to become profitable, or launch some new product that makes them profitable. They don’t seem to have a plan.

Lucid has denied reports that it is considering a take-private transaction or a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, calling the claims "completely false" in a statement from Chief Communications Officer @ntwork. The statement came in response to an earlier report claiming restructuring adviser AlixPartners was evaluating several strategic options for the EV maker. SpaceX has officially requested FCC approval to launch and operate a third-generation satellite constellation of 100,000 satellites, designed to power human connectivity and AI-fueled progress. Even assuming he thought it would disengage FSD, which I don’t think it does and I don’t think there’s any reason to assume he thought it would, someone who isn’t acting negligently, would have tried another means to disengage it before waiting 6 seconds, getting to 73 MPH and leaving the road without letting off the accelerator, turning the wheel, pressing the break, hitting the stalk to manually disengage. The problem is that even if he thought it would disengage and was confused about at what point it would (which is somewhat undermined by his Google searches), his action to attempt to disengage FSD by continuously pressing the accelerator at those speeds shows negligence, and it lead to a death…and that’s sort of the definition of manslaughter.

@SawyerMerritt I tend to step on the accelerator when FSD is reluctant to make a right turn. And It will make the turn. A competent lawyer may argue Tesla is too vague about the speed at which FSD will disengage and thus liable. Is there language in TOS that warns the potential disengagement?

The driver of the Model 3 in the Texas house crash a couple of weeks ago has been charged with Manslaughter, and officials say he made Google searches in May about FSD not being aggressive enough. "As the vehicle was about to turn, however, the accelerator pedal was pressed, overriding the FSD's speed control. This time, the pressure was applied quickly but gradually down onto the pedal, causing a fast but gradual increase in the speed of the vehicle (as opposed to a sudden, accidental, heavy thump or slam-down). On the video, I saw BUTLER's Tesla continue to increase in speed, and saw the amount of pressure being applied to the accelerator pedal also increase in speed. In about 6 seconds, the accelerator pedal was pressed all the way down to 100%, "pedal to the metal," and the vehicle reached a speed of 73 miles per hour, more than double the speed limit on that residential street. The Tesla continued straight towards the middle of the cul-de-sac, struck the curb of the complainant's driveway, and went airborne towards the front of the home. At that point, the video footage ended. I noted that the brake pedal was never pressed in the final minute before the crash. I also did not see any data to indicate that the driver attempted to turn away from the curb that he eventually struck. Further, I observed that no mechanical error was detected or recorded by the vehicle before BUTLER and the Tesla struck the curb. I spoke to Sergeant Troyer, HCSO Deputy J. Hildebrandt, and Investigator Veal, who all had the opportunity to look inside the Tesla after the crash. They each confirmed to me that they did not observe any issue with the floor mat of the vehicle or any indication that the accelerator pedal was stuck or had been stuck in place by any sort of vehicle malfunction or external object. Investigator Veal also informed me that he had received BUTLER's cell phone from Deputy Amad and that HDAO digital forensics team had completed a data extraction and download of the phone. Multiple Google searches related to Tesla had been made from BUTLER's phone in the months leading up the crash. I noted multiple searches in May of 2026 indicating an apparent frustration with Tesla's FSD mode, including the following searches: "Tesla fsd not aggressive enough 2026 model," "Tesla fsd not [sic) aggressive enough 2026," "FSD is not aggressive enough for city driving," and "tesla fsd too timid." Based on: (1) the videos of BUTLER and his Tesla before and during the crash, (2) the black box data showing the live activity of the accelerator pedal, steering, and speed before and during the crash, (3) the Google searches demonstrating BUTLER's recent frustration with the "timid" nature of FSD mode, (4) the absence of any evidence of mechanical failure in the Tesla; and (5) the absence of any medical evidence, despite thorough hospital testing and evaluation, that BUTLER had any seizure, heart attack, or stroke, I have reason to believe and do believe that BUTLER recklessly caused the death of Martha Avila by applying pressure to the accelerator pedal in his Tesla, overriding FSD mode's speed control, traveling at a speed more than double the speed limit, failing to brake, failing to control speed, driving off the road, driving towards a house, and driving into and through a house, where he struck and killed Avila. Therefore, I have probable cause to believe Bulter committed the felony offense of MANSLAUGHTER."

But was still going 73 in a residential area and never hit the break or let up on the accelerator? I mean, he got airborne…no one should be going highway speeds in residential areas, but if their reaction time is so bad they take flight and hit a house before letting off the accelerator at all, they really shouldn’t be.

No, your point doesn’t stand. You said who would want to buy a Tesla, and as was pointed out, a lot of people. Your follow comment on the stock price being stagnant is true enough, but at best only loosely related to the demand for their cars, especially in a stock with a high multiple due to expected future products and growth (think Tesla or SpaceX today, or Amazon in the 2000’s and 2010’s). For evidence of this, they reported a significant beat in deliveries and their best Q2 ever, but their share price dipped slightly. A much, much more direct indicator of demand for their cars is…you know, how many they sold. If no one wanted them, they would sell fewer, period. That said, you’re correct about Tesla’s share price being stagnant and I’m glad investing in Tesla’s competitors worked out for you. Don’t know who you’re referring to, but personally I hope Rivian makes it big, they seem to have great products. Your third point about you personally not wanting to give him money is fair enough, I’m not on board with the whole MAGA thing either, but that hardly makes everyone who wants to buy one now because of Elon’s support a moron (though I’ll grant you their leader is). Some people don’t care and just want their product for completely unrelated reasons, included among those people I would guess are most of their customers in the rest of the world outside the US, where likely Elon’s politics aren’t super popular, to say the least. Point is, your second post didn’t support your first, and your third didn’t support either the first or second. I don’t think at the end of that your original point did stand.

@ResidentSponge I saw the video they posted about getting these installed. Seems like a good idea. Actually, it’s an idea Tesla should copy, I’ve been to a number of their locations that have superchargers, but it’s only for their use.

The company says it is launching EV Auto-branded Tesla Superchargers, beginning with its Brentwood, Tennessee location. More than 20 stalls are already in development across five states, with a goal of 50 by the end of 2026 and more than 1,000 nationwide over the longer term. The chargers will be open to all compatible EVs, not just Teslas. EV Auto says it wants its locations to serve as destinations for drivers, with amenities such as free drinks, outdoor movie screenings, and even vehicle test drives while customers charge.
