@northwoods1980 Thank you that’s a great response. Is there anything from a bone density perspective? Often with young athletes females we worry about RED-S.

I do think these pts w a low-grade acetabular dysplasia would be at an elevated risk due to some element of instability. Others could probably speak more to this. I'm not specifically aware of prospective studies correlating these specific injuries to bone morphology but would not surprise me. I'm sure other Risk factors such as neuromuscular training or lack of, would also predisposed similar to ACL preventive programs. Again, moving away from my specific area of expertise however. Hopefully others can share insights. I found this case interesting and scary. It would've been common for this injury to have been missed and patient placed back into sporting activities.

Interesting case. Relatively minor trauma stopping at first base. Young female. Acetabular rim fracture with a minor femoral head impaction injury. With low-grade acetabular dysplasia possibly predisposing.

Proud to be part of this milestone! Honoured to be the first surgeon at Spire Leicester to perform a total knee replacement using the advanced VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution with the ATTUNE™ Knee System.

Many think osteoarthritis (OA) is a 'wear and tear' problem. While the instigator may be traumatic (think ACL injury), framing it as wear-and-tear can cause patients to think exercise will make things worse. So understanding why cartilage loves load is important...🧵👇 1/7

Brilliant teaching session from Mr Basu this evening from @Leic_hospital for me on spinal pathologies for GPs. A lot to take away from the session to improve patient care as well as fostering good cross-relations from primary and secondary care @llrpcl spinesurgery #msk

@bellkneesurgeon @BillingMartin That’s good to know. Like you I find myself discussing cardiometabolic health with OA knee patients more and more. The small sample size of my patient list suggests those that fix that don’t need or want surgery. It’s a brilliant field of research at the minute

@RM15171 @BillingMartin Given the, at times, sizable impact on symptoms from modest weight loss I am framing the gains as being a turnaround of their metabolism that happens to also cause them to lose some weight.
