HOA meeting just dropped the single greatest rule in human history 😂 “Children are permitted… but it’s the intensity of the splashing. When splashing becomes continuous, it stops being play. It becomes activity. And activity at that level… is shared.” Ma’am, you didn’t just attend an HOA meeting. You ascended to Peak Karen and invented Splash Marxism. Kids out here living their best chaotic summer lives and this visor-wearing philosopher is in the back doing physics equations on cannonballs like she’s the fun police’s Chief Justice. Next month: “The velocity of cannonball entries violates Section 4.2.7 of the covenants. Fines will be assessed per giggle decibel.” These people would fine the ocean for waves. ABOLISH HOAs. Your kids deserve to splash like absolute degenerates without filing a 47-page Environmental Impact Report. Fight me, Karen. I’m bringing the Super Soaker. 🏊‍♂️💦😂

The spreadsheet math on this is brutal. She left roughly $54 million on the table. Yet she probably just made the best financial decision of her life. $1M in an S&P 500 index fund at age 20 compounds to approximately $58M in inflation-adjusted terms by age 80. The historical real return is about 7% annually over 97 years of data. Her annuity pays $52,000 a year. Over 60 years that totals $3.1M. The gap is 18x. Every finance account in these replies will tell you she's wrong. The compounding math is clear. Take the lump sum, put it in VOO, don't touch it for 60 years. The Certified Financial Planner Board says roughly a third of lottery winners declare bankruptcy within five years. Illinois court records show 28% of winners who won $50K or more went bankrupt in the same window. The average winner spends 60% of their winnings on family and friends in the first two years. She's 20. Peak impulsivity, minimal financial literacy, and every person she's ever met just found out she has a million dollars in her checking account. The $1M doesn't go into a Vanguard account. It goes into the most socially pressured spending environment a human being can occupy. $1,000 a week is a permanent $52K salary, tax-free in Canada, that arrives whether she makes good decisions or catastrophic ones. Can't be drained by a partner. Can't be lost to a scam. Can't be "invested" in a cousin's restaurant. Shows up every Friday for the rest of her life. The spreadsheet says lump sum by 18x. The data on what actually happens to people who receive $1M at 20 says she just bought the most expensive insurance policy in lottery history, and it was worth every dollar she gave up.
DividendBoomer@BoomerDivvies

An 20-year-old Canadian girl won $1M (tax free in Canada) in the lottery and chose $1,000/week instead of the lump sum. Is this wise or the worst financial decision of her life? What are you doing when this happens to you??

Talked to a guy on a conference call Thursday that owns 42 houses in New Jersey. Bought all of them for between $400,000 and $500,000. Reno’d them. Average all-in is $600k. Said they are all worth $1.2-1.5 million each. me: so what’s next? what’s the plan? him: i’m literally driving around to find my next deal right now me: to what end? what do you want? him: freedom, brother me: you have a $30+ million dollar net worth…you’ve created generation wealth…what additional freedom do you need? him: i honestly don’t know ——— Lots of ambitious types are wired this way. That same ambition that helped them “make it” also prevents them from savoring how far they’ve come, and from accurately assessing that they’ve actually accomplished their goals. This guy is probably 40. Married with a couple kids. Made it - doesn’t realize it - still crushing himself to grow. Not suggesting he or anyone just pack it up, sell it all, and drink margs all day. But he has the ability now to progressively maneuver his capital in a way to generate maximum flexibility and peace. Beautiful place to be…if he can accept it.

REMINDER: just over 10 years ago Spencer Pratt and his wife went bankrupt after blowing $10 million preparing for a zombie apocalypse. This is not satire. It really happened. These people are dirty fucking grifters that are unfit to manage their own finances, let alone one of the biggest economies in the world. Are they going to blow the entire Los Angeles budget on a doomsday bunker and plastic surgery?

Portland Moderate.@pdxmoderate·
Portland State University announced Thursday morning that it plans to lay off 52 faculty and staff members and eliminate two academic departments as part of a broader financial survival plan. The cuts, outlined in PSU President Ann Cudd’s provisional restructuring proposal, affect nine departments—far fewer than the 19 departments Cudd warned could face reductions or closure in March. PSU says it must slash $35 million in spending over the next two fiscal years to close a budget deficit by 2028. Eliminating the 52 positions would save an estimated $16 million. Under the proposal, University Studies and Conflict Resolution would be eliminated entirely. PSU’s real problem is straightforward: it offers a declining product in a deteriorating urban environment, and enrollment reflects it. Student enrollment has fallen roughly 30% over the past decade. The university’s apparent solution? Raise tuition again. Cudd’s repeated reliance on words like “optimism” and “pandemic recovery” signals an administration still unwilling to confront the scale of the problem. The current cuts are unlikely to stabilize PSU’s finances because the underlying trends are still moving in the wrong direction. Enrollment continues to fall, PSU remains resistant to expanding online course offerings, and higher tuition will only make the school less competitive. There are obvious cost-saving measures PSU still appears reluctant to pursue, including consolidating departments into fewer buildings to reduce utility, maintenance, and operational expenses. And then there’s tenure. Whatever justification tenure may once have had, it’s increasingly difficult to defend in 2026 while universities face shrinking enrollment, rising costs, and growing demands for accountability and flexibility. Sadly PSU has devolved into a communist indoctrination community college and not a world class institution of higher education providing newly minted college grads into Portland based businesses. wweek.com/news/schools/2…

What kind of world are we leaving behind? Unfortunately, it is a world distorted by war and war-like language. This pollution of reason comes from the geopolitical sphere and invades every social relationship. Any simplification that creates enemies must be corrected, especially in universities, through complexity of thought and wise exercise of memory.

Prior to letting the Israelis lead us into this war, President Trump was actually poised to cut a better deal than the JCPOA (aka the Obama Iran deal). The Iranians feared and respected Trump in a way they never respected Obama—he took out the terror mastermind Qasem Soleimani, yet was prudent enough not to get sucked into the quicksand of another Middle Eastern quagmire that would only favor Iran and strengthen its hardliners. That’s why, as soon as he returned to office in January 2025, the Iranians stopped their proxies from attacking us and were immediately open to negotiations. President Trump can still correct course, but he has to break the current stalemate cycle we are in: Get us out of the military standoff. Restrain the Israelis. Leverage the potential of sanctions relief to open the Strait of Hormuz and secure a new deal on the nuclear issue.

BREAKINGNEWS: FBI Director made claim that @ChrisVanHollen paid over $7,000 bar tab in El Salvador while visiting Kilmar Abrego Garcia. We find out the $7,000 tab wasn't in El Salvador or wasn't at a local bar. It was through a catering service for staff paid for by campaign funds. Not a single dime from tax payers, but from contributions. FBI Director Kash Patel should resign for this reason and 100 other reasons. 🚨

🚨 JUST IN: After TMZ ran a SMEAR PIECE on him, LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt took it to them DIRECTLY on their network — he showed up and PUMMELED the lies They tried saying he misled people about living in the trailer because his house burned down — that he's at a "hotel" PRATT FIRES BACK: "So this idea that anyone's like, oh, he's at a hotel! I'm at a hotel because these PSYCHOPATHS are messaging me every day. They're going to kill me because Nithya Raman is calling me a fascist, because I don't want people to have their kids next to drug addicts at the park or stepping in human poop when you get your matcha!" 🔥🔥🔥 "[The trailer] is where I will live until I have a new house...Where my kids are in Santa Barbara right now is a temporary housing. This is where I live. This is where they burn my house down. So this semantics or the nuance of this is the consequences of their failed leadership!" "Again, I don't live at the Hotel Bel Air...I don't live in the Santa Barbara." "That's where Karen Bass, Mayor Bass, BURNED DOWN MY HOUSE!" THE LIES WON'T WORK

EXCLUSIVE: Secretary of State Marco Rubio outlines the high-stakes push for China to confront Iran over its actions in the Persian Gulf in an exclusive sit-down with @seanhannity aboard Air Force One: “The Chinese have ships stuck in the Persian Gulf... A Chinese cargo got hit over the weekend. I'm sure Iran didn't do it deliberately but they did it, it happened. And so that's why these Chinese ships are stuck in there.” “It's a huge source of instability. It threatens to destabilize Asia more than any other part of the world because it's heavily reliant on the straits for energy.” “It’s in [China’s] interest to resolve this. We hope to convince them to play a more active role in getting Iran to walk away from what they're doing now and trying to do now in the Persian Gulf."

This is going to sound fake but the sellers of the house I inspected this morning mentioned specifically they are selling their house in LA. and leaving the country because of the political environment we are currently in in the US They are in their 60s and feel like the country is slipping quickly into authoritarian/dictator control and they have the means and money to leave the country so that’s what they’re going to do.
