99 years is the amount of prison time a doctor in Alabama will receive if they perform an abortion. 6 months is the amount of prison time you will receive if you rape an unconscious girl next to a dumpster. Wake up.

@Sarumans_hand @tiffany_two @J_TheExplorer @hell_line0 Do you think either of us are pro war? Genuinely. Nobody supports the idea of a draft and one hasn't been implemented for decades. You could also refuse to join and just pay the fine/to the time 🤷🏻‍♀️ you still have choices.

I was 6 weeks postpartum. I came in because sex felt like I was being cut open. I told the OB “Something is wrong. I’m in pain.” She didn’t even examine me properly. Just smiled and said “Well… childbirth changes things.” Then she asked: “Is your husband complaining?” I said: “No. I’m complaining.” And she laughed like it was cute. Later another doctor finally checked me and said quietly: “You were stitched too tight.” They didn’t “fix” me for my comfort. They fixed me for a man’s.

what’s a clear example of medical misogyny you’ve witnessed or experienced?

@Sarumans_hand @J_TheExplorer @hell_line0 Okay so then by your original comment, I'm clearly a liar and should suffer legal consequences. So tell me, what legal consequences should 8 year old me been given?

@RabidDoe @J_TheExplorer @hell_line0 So you didn’t have enough evidence against them to prove it happened beyond a reasonable doubt. Bad people “get off” like that all the time. But that is our due process

@xevekiah The only bad person in this story is the female OB. Maybe with more details, but as told this isn’t misogyny.

@J_TheExplorer @hell_line0 Can we also punish women or people who make false accusations? If a woman takes a man to court for rape and he is found not guilty or acquitted, she should be charged and arrested for making false accusations and wasting public resources.

@J_TheExplorer @hell_line0 Except it's not. Simply for the fact that there is no scenario that excuses rape. You can kill in defense, by law it's legal to kill someone if they commited a heinous enough crime and found guilty. There is absolutely no law that excuses rape, absolutely no justification for it.

@hell_line0 Yeah, killing is objectively worse than rape. But I agree that the punishment for rape should be way harder.

@nunharmful Yeah girl, every trait an autistic person has is always generally "common", frequency and context however, is what makes the diagnosis lmao

we got detransitioning for autism now
Christina Buttons@buttonslives

I thought I was autistic. I was wrong. I was 30 in 2019 when stories of women discovering they were autistic all along began appearing everywhere. They popularized a newer understanding of autism, with its own “female presentation.” It was framed as a scientific correction to a historical wrong against women, the kind of narrative the press finds irresistible. Like so many women, I felt immense relief when I was formally diagnosed. It offered an explanation for the mental health crises of my youth and the daily realities of my adult life. Then I spent a year in the online autism community. What I saw there, especially the way activists treated parents of severely impaired children, turned me into a critic of neurodiversity. But it was becoming a journalist in 2022, after discovering detransitioners’ stories, that forced me to question narratives about identity and diagnosis, including my own. Journalism also required the social skills autism says I should have lacked. From there, the rest unraveled: many traits I had come to associate with autism are not uncommon in the general population, but through the “female autism” framework, they looked like a meaningful pattern. I don’t think my story is unique. The same incentives that kept my diagnosis intact may also help explain why so many women are entering the autism category in adulthood. @iky_fwjett You kinda suck as a human. Who doesn’t love babies? Also unless you live in specific adult housing it’s probably illegal to kick her out for a baby. Pregnancy is a protected status in the fair housing act and you cannot do a damn thing without facing a huge lawsuit

My roommate is pregnant and I don’t know how to tell her that I don’t want the baby in our apartment We are both in our mid twenty’s, I’m still in Uni und she’s working (I’m not sure what she does but it’s something where she does a lot of programming at home) She got pregnant at a party and doesn’t know who the father is I lived in the apartment first and she moved in 4 months ago, so I don’t see why I should move out She hasn’t even suggested to move out but she has talked about planning a baby shower in the apartment (isn’t that something that happens later in the pregnancy?) Anyways I really don’t wanna live with a baby but it’s kinda mean to just tell her to move out right?

@2beedelicious @EFCevie Abuse seemed like a stretch that could theoretically stretch into anything. The suspicion was that it was targeting the gender rather than the behavior. Like, if it was reversed, would it be seen the same.

@tufpraise People like you, calling the silhouette of a healthy weighted person fat, are the reason why people think the bulimia aesthetic, and real starvation are the only way they have to look to be acceptable. Calling a healthy weight fat kills people that will starve to please you.

For months, my ex joked about getting me a toaster for Christmas & I told him I didn't want a toaster. Every time he brought it up I said please don't. The week before Xmas, I specifically told him getting a toaster would hurt my feelings after saying don't a dozen times. Family was all there and I open a toaster. He thinks it's so funny. I opened the door and tossed off the balcony. "Look, a flying toaster" He was pissed.
