James Cameron almost fired Leonardo DiCaprio from Titanic. Leo insisted not to do screen test on camera. He said “I don’t read.” “I shook his hand and said, ‘Thanks for coming by.” “This is a giant movie that is going to take two years of my life, and you’ll be gone doing five other things while I’m doing post-production. So, I’m not going to f*ck it up by making the wrong decision in casting. So, you’re going to read, or you’re not going to get the part.'

my conspiracy theory about the royals is that andrew is liz's love child with porchy and that's why 1 he looks nothing like his siblings 2 there's a decade gap between him and anne 3 why liz caved to phil & passed the act saying her kids cd get "mountbatten-windsor" as a surname

@thatwoman I paid $45 approximately for lawn seats for Niall Horan’s last tour. And I *know* you can’t really compare him to Harry but still…Ticketmaster will never change the resale market bc they make $$$$ from percentage fees when ticket prices are through the roof.

all i’m gonna say is 2 weeks before harry’s residency olivia dean is playing the same venue and i paid $196.25 for a row 9 floor seat. no platinum pricing, no dynamic pricing, and she spoke up about the resale market AND made a change. artist need to do better they do have a say.

@ImogenLeewriter This. I listened and immediately was like “this feels like the opening track” (it is) and I am so intrigued to hear the rest of the album. Bc I’m old it reminds me of when U2 released Pop (complete with disco ball) & how mixed the reactions were bc it didn’t sound like typical U2

I don't have the brain capacity to articulate my thoughts completely but I want to be clear that this isn't me attempting to be didactic. From an artistry point of view I, personally, really impressed by Aperture. It's absolutely a huge risk, and Harry would be aware of it. It's not very radio-friendly, it doesn't fit the criteria of song need to create tiktok virality. Instead, its a clear attempt at experimentation and exploration. For an established artist with a predominantly "pop" and "singer/songwriter" fanbase, a lot of whom solely embrace commercially appropriate music, moving across genres is a risk. Harry didn't just move genres, he moved into a somewhat hybrid, somewhat innovative space. This was already evident in the conversations on the timeline after the listening parties, where there was no clear agreement on what genre it fell into. It also explains why some people are feeling really confused. I do also want to acknowledge the dichotomy of risk and privilege. It's a risk because he is a successful, established artist, but the reason he can afford that risk is because he is a successful, established artist. I'm not claiming that it is a masterpiece, I'm not claiming he has invented an entirely new genre, I'm not insisting you need to enjoy it or resonate with it. But in an era where all forms of creativity and the arts are at risk of being corrupted by AI, and in a social and cultural economy that claims it wants innovation, but in reality can be hostile to it, I am really excited to see artists taking risks, experimenting, and focusing on creativity over popularity. Okay, byeeeeeeeeeeeee.

@danishacarterr Galentine’s Day is Feb 13 (if they’re copying Parks and Rec which is where I first heard the term) and it’s definitely in addition to Valentines Day, not to replace it!

i’m genuinely curious if you guys are only capable of remembering things for a week. each new week forgets the past and context is stripped. starting from zero. target isn’t selling “galentines” day merchandise because it wants women single (target doesn’t WANT anything but money), it’s selling “galentines” merchandise because women have constantly expressed how let down they’ve been by men on valentines days and are turning to friends instead. why does everyone act like women’s reactive behavior (and corporations following said behavior for the money) has come out of nowhere lol.
Lisa Britton@LisaBritton

I went into Target to see if the “Dump Him” sweater poster was still there (it is) but I noticed they amped up their Valentine’s Day display. I thought “Aww, well that’s sweet”… but then closer I realized they’re not promoting Valentine’s Day… They’re promoting GALentine’s Day! Why does Target want women to be single so bad? I have some ideas.

@FoxCapHill @honeybunwife Lucy was frequently shown wearing a housecoat and she and Ethel often wore varying degrees of formal to informal cotton house dresses. Dresses can be very comfortable. And it was shown onscreen so saying people weren’t portraying that on tv is inaccurate.

@honeybunwife Amazing how people look at a sitcom like "I Love Lucy" and conclude it must be how all people lived. Of course people had comfy clothing. Not the 50s, but in the early 90s, my dad wore a suit to work and didn't even say hello to us before he changed into sweats.

no they didn’t, the 1950s had its own version of casual loungewear like housecoats. there’s many photos of my grandmother hanging out with friends at the kitchen table with rollers in her hair and a house coat on

@XiJinpingThot69 Within recent memory, most people woke up in the morning and got dressed in normal clothing, also generally put shoes on in the bedroom while dressing. But they weren't "cocooning" with netflix at all day. People went out and about, people dropped by. You had to be dressed.

@the_transit_guy @FreedmanJournal I live in Toledo. Bought my home 14 years ago and it would sell for more than double that if we sold now. It’s a smaller home, exactly what boomers imagine when they talk about how no one wants a starter home.
