@The_Catechumen So, if all 3 conditions are not met, then it’s not a mortal sin. Seems to me that a mortal sin is simply the full will, consent, and knowledge that it’s a mortal sin. Or in other words, active rejection of God. That’s actually a tall order.

You’re correct! The examination of conscience should reveal which sins you are obliged to confess (intentional mortal sins) and what you ought to confess for the continued health for your soul (sins that are heavy on your conscience, sins that are grave matter but you committed either without full knowledge or full consent, venial faults that prevent you from advancing in perfection). The examination of conscience involves arousing contrition - which is why you ought to do it immediately after realizing you have committed a fault and immediately prior to confession. It also requires that we make a “firm purpose of amendment” which is the intention to engage in these sins no longer and to avoid occasions of sin. The sins which can be forgiven through the sacrifice of the mass, reception of the Eucharist, prayer, penance, etc. are venial faults, because they don’t extinguish the life of the soul. However, mortal sins (“sins that being death” per 1 John 5) cannot be forgiven through these means, because you lack the supernatural grace within the soul to elicit such actions in the proper way.

As Catholics, we know we ought to “have recourse to sacramental confession as soon as possible” (CCC 1452); wherein we entrust ourselves to the faithfulness of God who promises, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). However, there still remains the interim between committing sin and confessing sin. So, what response should we accustom ourselves to immediately after our souls have been deprived of grace by mortal sin? (Article coming soon)

@The_Catechumen I mean, I’m actually asking as a Catholic who goes to regular confession. But it’s kinda stressful. So, can someone tell me what I have to confess as opposed to things that are forgiven at Mass?

@The_Catechumen By doing an examination of conscience and we look at “mortal sin” it’s hard to believe that we aren’t just always in a state of mortal sin. But there has to be 3 conditions met. If all 3 aren’t met, no mortal sin. So then, it has to be hard to Commit one, correct?

@PollTracker2024 I’m telling you, NE01 is safe red. Democrats fucked up nominating a squad type rich carpetbagger in NE-02. Now that seat is probably off the table for the Democrats. Great job.

Dreadful theology. Jesus isn’t in heaven wringing His hands wondering if you’ll ever come around. God chose His children before the foundation of the world. Everything that happens on your path to Him was ordained for your good and His glory. The chosen will come when called.

@OpenSourceZone Still before AL LA and SC, per the map? Democrats will most likely be left with 204 after those draws. If they win all tossups, their Cooked "Ceiling" is 222.....which is what they had in 2020 after a D+3.1 presidential-election-pushed margin.

Baris is smart enough to know this shift was almost solely caused by a competitive, expensive Dem House primary in NE-02. Not sure why he ignores that fact.

@RedEaglePatriot I switched my registration to Vote in the Dem Primary to get the crazy progressive! We got her! Now the district is likely to stay Republican. Denise Powell in NE 02 is way too crazy.

@rockreborn22 @BigDanT1221 @chrislives78 @ByJimbob The Didache was published in the early 2nd Century and almost made it into Scripture. You definitely don’t do anything in there. You probably haven’t read it. And you’re just hilarious! 😂🤣

@BigDanT1221 @chrislives78 @ByJimbob Christians in the first three centuries followed scripture as their authority. This obsession with compilation is actually funny, as if scripture was not available before then.
