Why I'm tired. I'm not ignoring you. Our son had a nuss procedure done on his chest on Nov 30. They took a medical crane, and raised his sternum to allow his lungs and heart to drop so they could slide two Titanium bars through to force the expansion of his chest. It's similar to braces being put on teeth to move and keep in place. It will be removed in three years. It's genetic. He will be able to play sports soon so watch out! Be patient with me if you need a response. He's hanging in there.

When the pain medication starts to wear off, recovery can be very tough for a while. Make sure you have plenty of supportive pillows, including an incline or wedge pillow. He’ll likely slide down while sleeping, so having extra pillows to help keep him comfortable and properly positioned is important. I ended up sleeping next to Jerry because he was so uncomfortable. Gentle back rubs and helping him reposition throughout the night provided some relief, but the recovery was still challenging. Once he’s cleared to start the stretching exercises, encourage him to stay consistent with them. They’re painful and often the last thing he’ll want to do, but they’re critical. The stretches help the muscles, ligaments, and tissues adjust to the new position of the rib cage and play a big role in a successful recovery. Unfortunately, he had to go through a repair due to the lower bar slightly moving and an infection. I pray that doesn’t happen to your son, but if it does, reach out to me again, and I will let you know which surgeon and Hospital were successful in that. The good news is that it does get better. Those early weeks can be incredibly difficult, but staying on top of the stretches and movement makes a big difference in the long run. His chest looks incredible!

Not sure if I've talked about having Pectus Excavatum before BUT it's the 2 year anniversary of having my last chest surgery for it!!!! Having nuss procedure and the bar was probably one of the biggest things I've overcome and I'm proud of it

I had the nuss procedure (pectus excavatum surgery) done less than a week ago, and all I wanna do is see the fnaf movie but recovery is destroying me. Feels bad… 🔥🔥

A week ago I had a surgery called the Nuss procedure. I got out of the hospital after 2 days vs. the expected 3-5. I can’t wait to be back & practicing again, but I’ll have to take time to recover. When I come back I’ll come back stronger & ready to work #JordanW2028 #thecobway

Apparently pectus excavatum and the nuss procedure have come up in the trans debate. I want to make clear as someone who has Pectus and has had the Nuss procedure, it has nothing to do with gender.

@RagMoppp I lost one of my dachshunds to cancer, but she had had two bouts of surgery for IVDD. Loved that dog so much. The other had a back operation last year.
