@Noahpinion The idea that economic interventionism is beneficial is a luxury belief. Or at least a wrong one. Much like people who want to dictate vegetarianism on other people "for their own good"

@jondelarroz They must assemble a DEI'd group of less talented union writers to hang out and think of ways to inject their politics and prejudices into J.K. Rowling's already completed story.

Why can't streaming shows come out annually when they're only 8-10 episodes when they used to produce 24 episodes a season every year on TV?

@avidfilm Easily my favorite of all his movies. Partly because the QT gratuitous violence was directed at dirty hippies. Easily his most benevolent film. Almost Romantic rather than Naturalistic.

So Quentin Tarantino has always been a hit and miss director for me. My favorite movie of his is Pulp Fiction, and I dislike about half of the films I’ve seen from him. Well, a miracle happened, because after watching it yesterday, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is now my favorite Tarantino film, I absolutely loved it. It was such a great tribute to that era of Hollywood, and one of the best character driven movies I’ve seen, as someone who tends to prefer plot driven movies. Entertaining, funny , and wonderfully quirky.

At some point in time, don’t know when, media shifted from being ASPIRATIONAL to being RELATABLE. Old gamers played a game to ESCAPE. The point of FANTASY was to be AWAY from real life. The character with their perfect proportions and unrealistic attitudes was ASPIRATIONAL. It was something to model and strive towards. But at some point media shifted to RELATABLE where people wanted the characters to be JUST LIKE THEM. If they were weak, they wanted to see the character have weak moments. They didn’t want to see BEAUTIFUL unrealistic characters because instead of feeling INSPIRED if made them feel small. So media made the shift and became relatable and after this shift, in our opinion, media began to suck. If you’re willing to accept an even bigger fractal, it’s analogous to how people stopped believing in God/religion. God represents an impossible to reach ideal that you STRIVE to reach. When you abandon God, because it’s unrealistic, you don’t strive whuch leads you to worse results. We see the same in media. Relatable stories and content that don’t make people strive to be better. No idea when the shift happened, but it did. And it’s real. And you will notice it if you have the eyes to see.

@neontaster The poster makes it clear that they are subverting with modern nihilism the old ideals of Truth and Justice, replacing the phrase "and the American way" with "whatever".

The trailer felt like a movie out of 2014. Just not sure burnout whateverism is what people are looking for right now in their superhero movies. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see...

@JustineBateman Take a classic story, then DEIify it, throw in some jokes, strip out whatever the original theme was, then prepare to criticize the audience that fails to watch.

a long time ago i had the experience of chatting irl with someone well known on twitter, well connected, well platformed, influential, etc. He was smart, seemed to have domain expertise in his technical field. But gradually over the course of the conversation I realized he didn't actually know what he was talking about. He used complicated words, but in subtly off ways, and would reply to questions with things that sounded like answers but actually weren't.He'd confidently reference concepts that I think he assumed I didn't know, but I did know, and I knew that the term he used didn't actually have anything to do with his claim, etc. But his confidence was intense and radiating, and the speed at which he talked and the complex vocabulary he used really disguised what I perceived to be both a lack of deep understanding of the material and also a lack of self-awareness that he didn't have deep understanding! I've def met people who disagree with me online who I think *do* engage deeply with the concepts, but this specific one didn't, and it was a little blackpilling for me to realize that he had such a following from a bunch of people who couldn't tell the difference.

@TheCriticalDri2 This is what "equity" means in action. Egalitarianism and envy in modern artists drive them to destroy heroes and elevate mediocrities. They yearn to level all shrines.

@BaldingsWorld When you step back and look at the big picture, China has been the key bastion supporting tyranny globally after the liberation of many countries and people post the USSR's deserved collapse. It's the axis maintaining anti-liberty globally: collectivism, corruption, statism.

@Samtanic_Panic Says something about factory-line mentalities. It's past events like this that now make me watch several hours of harassment training videos per year, reminding me to not compliment the fit of yoga pants, and how not using "they" pronouns is akin to slavery.

@avidfilm I would have made a more powerful and concise Hobbit but did not have the time. The material should have fit into 3 or 4 hours, the trilogy killed the plot pacing. Compare this to the pacing of the nearly perfect adaptation of the novel Pride and Prejudice 1995. Plot over CGI

His predictions were not premature but just flat wrong. Not wrong as in they were a little off but wrong as in completely and entirely wrong not even close. However, that is not the part that people are missing. Ehrlich thinking wormed its way into to so much thinking and dominates large parts of polite society thinking today. Europe hands out advanced degrees in "degrowth" and while no one would say it is an advanced degree in Ehrlich's wrongness, his ideas permeate polite society. It boggles the mind that his ideas which are so universally wrong have such life under a different brand
