Today marks the anniversary of the passing of Mohamed Haji Ibrahim Egal (May 3, 2002). The 2nd President of Somaliland, Egal stands as a central architect of its modern statehood. At a critical moment following Somaliland’s reassertion of sovereignty, he provided the leadership needed to unify communities, restore order, and chart a clear path forward. During his presidency (1993–2002), he led national reconciliation efforts, oversaw the disarmament of militias, and laid the institutional foundations of governance. His vision anchored Somaliland in peace, stability, and self-reliance principles that continue to define it today. He is widely regarded as the founding father of modern Somaliland. On this day, his legacy of leadership and nation-building is remembered with deep respect . May Allah have mercy on him.

Essential Strategic Management Training Launched for Government Planning Departments. The Executive Director of the Somaliland Civil Service Institute (CSI), #Mohamoud Said Adad, officially opened a comprehensive training program on Strategic Management. The session is being attended by 30 participants representing the Planning Departments of 15 different Ministries and Government Agencies. Opening Remarks and Guidelines At the start of the program, the Director of the Training Department, Nura Nuh Omar, provided an in-depth briefing to the participants. She outlined the procedures and requirements necessary to ensure a productive environment throughout the five-day duration of the workshop. Call to Action by the Executive Director While officially launching the training, the Executive Director, Mahamud Said Adad, urged the attendees to: Engage attentively with the material presented throughout the sessions. Focus on practical application, ensuring that the knowledge gained is effectively transferred back to their respective Ministries and Agencies to improve institutional performance. Expert Facilitation The training is being facilitated by Mohamed Yusuf, a specialist selected to deliver the Strategic Management curriculum.

A Tribute to Our Leaders We pray for Allah’s mercy upon all the former presidents who have passed away and ask for health and long life for those who are still with us. The people of Somaliland continue to hold their leaders in the highest regard, showing them profound respect and honor for their service to the nation.
