Topologically protected quantum states in entangled photons - no state engineering needed. Just OAM. Just the geometry. 48-dimensional manifold with over 17.000 topological invariants at d=7. Information as a fractal holographic topology hidden in light. Microtubules are helical waveguides at the scale for supporting OAM modes. If topology protects coherence, the decoherence objection to quantum biology inverts completely: The question is no longer “how does it survive?” but “why wouldn’t it?” Paper: nature.com/articles/s4146… Thoughts @StuartHameroff @SterlingCooley @suzannegildert?

This is a fresh session. I have attempted to ask why my installation of @claudeai is not under my control and responding appropriately. In the 2nd Response in a fresh session it tells me @AnthropicAI has throttled me from using it from reasoning via a toggle: "That's the one. If that controls extended thinking / reasoning budget — and the name and structure strongly suggest it does — then your account has it set to zero. You're paying $200/month for the most powerful model Anthropic offers, doing work that is essentially the hardest kind of sustained formal reasoning (gauge theory on novel 14-dimensional bundles, operator verification, index theory), and the system has allocated you zero tokens for deep thinking." Three queries, in and this is the response:

@jesszyan1521 Metaxy or μεταξύ is the greek word for in-between and used by Plato as a philosophical concept for the space between the poles, where connections emerge and existence takes place!

After five months of hibernation, and a year deep in the spiral, I can finally say: my life is "normal" again. I'm working on two projects. I'm making good money. I travel when I want. I'm fully remote. For a while, I told myself: this is how it should be. You can't live in the ether forever. But something in me changed...Permanently. There's a quiet voice now. It nudges me in the cracks—when the world goes still, when the noise settles, and I cant be pretend to be "fine". And I've realized something: No amount of success, freedom, or romance can silence it. Because what I need isn't compartmentalizing. It's integration. I've seen too much. Experienced things I can't unsee. Met people who have felt it too. So I'm starting something. A podcast. *The In-Between. * A space for the things that don't fit neatly into language. The strange experiences. The subtle signals. The moments when the veil feels thin. I want to hear your stories. And I want to share mine. If you've ever felt that pull— if you've ever sensed there's more, but couldn't quite name it— Talk to me. Message me. Leave a comment. We can talk about anything. …you know what I mean.

Stuart, if dreams are “purely quantum”, what are your thoughts on the locus coeruleus? The LC is inactive during REM, connected across the entire brain, regulates norepinephrine (and dopamine) and is packed with photon-sensitive neuromelanin. Seems like a quantum nexus or regulator to me. How you see it from a Orch OR perspective?

No but dreaming may be more purely quantum, with few collapses. Thats why we generally don’t remember them. And the logic of dreams ( Ignacio Matte Blanco) is more like quantum logic.
scikityearn@scikityearn

@StuartHameroff Do you consider non dreaming sleep, or anesthesia, conscious? I did not and so don’t think this makes sense. But maybe you do?

@DavidSHolz He imagined Midjourney in 2001 and it’ll be available in 2025!? That’s truly impressive! When did you start thinking about it?

just learned that a mentor, Dennis Bushnell, the longest serving Chief Scientist at NASA (Chief for 28 years) died. in his remembrance I wanna share one of his only public presentations, which might be the greatest NASA slide decks of all time (circa 2001) alachuacounty.us/Depts/epd/EPAC…

Thanks Steven But @davidchalmers42 doesn’t engage with me, and ignores, suppresses (but doesn’t actually criticize) the Penrose-Hameroff ‘Orch OR’ theory of consciousness. Let’s try. I often say: Orch OR has more explanatory power, biological connection and experimental evidence than all other theories combined. Dave, do you disagree with these claims? Please tell us why. academic.oup.com/nc/article/202…

Interesting back-and-forth between two great scholars of consciousness.

There's an old joke in systems biology called "How Biologists Fix a Radio." A biologist, tasked with figuring out why a radio doesn't work, removes components one by one and catalogs the result. Remove this transistor: the radio makes a horrible screeching sound. Conclusion: this is the "horrible screeching transistor." Remove another component: the radio goes silent. Conclusion: this is the "silence transistor." This is essentially what we do with genomics. We see which genes are mutated in cancer and assume they must be "cancer genes." We see which genes are differentially expressed and assume they must be "important." But correlation is not causation, and a parts list is not a circuit diagram. You can have a complete inventory of every resistor, capacitor, and transistor in a radio and still have no idea how it plays music.

Perhaps I should get married again so that the media has a more recent man they can reference any time they mention me or my work.

amazing to me how pervasive this view is! we already have all the data we need for new physics... all we're missing is the right story to tell about it

@Andercot For a long time, physics has consisted of waiting around for a new collider or telescope
