Uber sent me a push notification to rate the driver. The notification showed only 4 stars. Naturally, I tapped the last star thinking I was giving 5. Turns out I had just rated my driver 4. My driver lost a star.
Somewhere:
Uber PM: "Why have 5 star ratings suddenly dropped by 20%?" 💀
That’s a valid one, this is actually doable to some extent, but you have to be intentional about how you show your work.
A few things that could help,
- Don’t just show final screens, instead show how you built reusable patterns or systems behind them.
- Talk about trade-offs you made (speed vs quality, depth vs scope)
- Highlight places where you shipped fast without creating long-term mess
- Show consistency across multiple flows and not just one polished case study
Basically:
don’t just show what you designed,
show how you think + how you scale + how you move.
@RamaKrishnaUX i resonate w the split. I think I'm in the 4th bucket, but it's hard to capture it in hiring contexts.
any thoughts on how to capture oneself better if you're in the 4th category ? or is it mostly through referrals ?
I have been seeing four types of designers lately..
Pixel perfect, but zero context
Great taste, but poor systems
Data driven, but low intuition
Super rare: taste + systems + speed
Most hiring loops are designed to detect 1 and 3. That’s why 4th is so rare I feel. 🤷🏻♂️
@thevaibhavme It’s usually someone who has a really good eye, good usage of colors, spacing, polish, etc
but doesn’t think in components, patterns, or reusing those across different parts of the product.
So the work looks great… but only until the product grows.
Looking for a brand designer (or studio) to help shape something ambitious from the ground up.
High bar on taste, craft, and systems thinking, not just logos.
If you’ve seen or worked with someone exceptional, would love recommendations. Portfolio links appreciated. 🤞
Welcome to @headout's new HQ in BLR!
We didn’t just build an office, we built a Museum of the World, a space that celebrates the places we love and the adventures we’re creating.
It’s got soul, it’s got heart, and it’s got room for YOU. We’re hiring. Come build with us!
I’ve joined @spc_india to explore where AI is headed in Consumer Research.
Over the next six months, I’m building a few products designed to make user interviews and surveys faster, cheaper, and more reliable - especially when you’re trying to learn from non-users, not just power users.
If you’re currently struggling to get quality insights, recruit the right participants, or move from “data” to real decisions, I’d love to have you pressure-test what I’m building. I'm looking for design partners.
Grateful to @prateekmehta42 and @ankitcc for the opportunity to be part of this community.
Lets go 🚀 🚀🚀
We’ve (@vaibhavpant_ & I) been building something tiny — but super useful: a Figma plugin called Flicker ⚡️
It turns your UI into clean and cute skeleton loading states.
