"Astronaut training is nothing but making you comfortable, with being uncomfortable." What does it take to go to space? Well, hear from the only Indian who has been on the International Space Station — @gagan_shux
Aditya Agarwal@adityaag

.@gagan_shux applied to the Indian Air Force without telling his parents. Decades later he became the 2nd Indian in history to reach space. We spoke at @spc_india about life aboard the ISS, what really happens to the body in microgravity, and the power of human perseverance. 00:00) Becoming Comfortable With the Uncomfortable (01:54) Why Saying "Yes" Changed the Course of His Life (07:15) What It Really Takes to Become an Astronaut (11:40) The Physical, Medical, and Psychological Tests (15:21) What It Feels Like to See Earth From Space (17:20) Microgravity: How Space Changes Your Body and Mind (25:35) The Pressure and Responsibility of Representing India in Space (28:29) The New Space Economy and Why the Next Decade Will Be Different (35:03) Advice for Entrepreneurs Building the Future of Space (44:19) The Future of Human Space Exploration: Moon, Mars, and Beyond

It was one of the best decisions for us to apply, we had almost given up after our first rejection, but decided to block an hour on a Monday and got back to work. But, that decision changed so much for us, in terms of increasing our velocity towards the conclusion we had. Highly recommend applying for it. My blog post on my experience is here: palashk.bearblog.dev/my-spc-founder…
Prateek Mehta@prateekmehta42

Before starting Upwardly, I spent months bothered by an observation…everyone around me was being mis-sold investment products, or they had money sitting in FDs and nobody seemed bothered by this except me! That irritation became a company. It took ~7 years of my life, and I enjoyed every year of it. That’s often the starting point for many. A question that won't leave you alone. The people at @spc_india right now are perpetual dreamers, their curiosity a perpetual engine. Engineers and operators who shipped the last generation of Indian startups and saw, up close, what's actually possible! Repeat founders who know how hard this is, and also that the journey is never the same twice. Researchers who have depth, and resilience. None of them are interested in building the mediocre. Because that is not a win. Not when the real opportunity, is to build something amazing. Your life’s work. Something that will not exist without you!

Knowing what to do next, and how to build on it, is one of the hardest problems out there. Conviction gets misunderstood all the time. Conviction to try something is not the same as conviction to stay on something for the next 10 years. That confusion stops a lot of great builders before they even start. This is the -1 to 0 phase. If you're working at the frontier of technology, science, or research, and chasing an idea that doesn't fully exist yet, this is for you. Applications to @spc_india Founder Fellowship are open. $1M in commitment and support along the way. Details and link below

Every founder I meet worries about missing this moment. The best worry about wasting it. There’s a difference. It’s a waste to ignore how much the world has changed. It’s a waste to think you can capture value with pure software the same as 5 years ago. It’s a waste to build something small. We have seen the shift slowly and then very quickly at @southpkcommons. Here’s who we want in the Founder Fellowship now: hardware tinkerers, mad scientists, obsessives, biohackers, people who build nuclear reactors in their basements. People who want to get their hands dirty and touch grass and atoms. If you are only building software, then please (for your own sake!) have a thesis that all your friends laugh at you about. Heresy is the price of ambition. Then put yourself in the right environment to maximize your ambition. (Apply by August 2nd)

Gonna be a fun one!
South Park Commons India@spc_india

14 years. Three completely different hard problems. ~$500M in exits. And he's still building. @thejo went from being a consumer hardware founder at Automatic, to building pure B2B at Airbase, and now he's building @getjournal_ai, a platform for agentic product development. A journey that started from India, and impacts the world. He is also an active angel investor, and an LP in multiple VC funds. Excited to host him for an unfiltered, builder-first conversation at SPC India, on July 22nd! RSVP on Luma now. We have limited seats.

Was awesome meeting you guys today @hackerfabindia ! Love the hustle and depth with which @aryamman_bhatia @jaibellare and team are building here! Thanks for bringing the spotlight on them @caleb_friesen. More young, technical builders need their stories to be told

Indian students are DIYing a semiconductor fab at IIT Bombay. In just 10 months they've built: 1. A DLP-based lithography machine. 2. A tube furnace to oxidise silicon. 3. A DC plasma sputter. Total cost: ₹30 lakh. Here's a rare behind-the-scenes look at HackerFab IITB.

We've raised $3.33 Million to build the Optical highway to the Cosmos. Led by @AccelIndia and @Prosus_Ventures and given foundational and early support by @southpkcommons, @artparkindia and Manish Jain. Space is going from an endeavor to an economy. The world is racing to build the satellites of tomorrow, but still using the infrastructure of yesterday to talk to them. At @QOSMIC__Space our goal is to fundamentally solve this problem from an infrastructural lens, and build the backbone of communication for humanity's final frontier. A decade ago this company gets built in the US or Europe. We built it in Bangalore. All three of us left careers abroad to come back, because India now has the capital, the manufacturing depth, and the institutions to build world-class space infrastructure. We came back because this is now the right place to build it, and we will not be the last founders to make that choice. Building this with @RohitKR79 and @aalokelab . We are just getting started. Onwards and Upwards. @ACCEL @spc_india @prateekmehta42 @ankitcc @adityaag @akhi_agarwal @nayankote @_pagarwal @artparkindia @iiscbangalore @JPBrebner

Proud to be backing @Jain_Shrey_ @aalokelab and @RohitKR79! Optical communications is the only way to scale orbital data centers and they’re the right team to build that layer - on earth and in space!

It’s been a minute. 2015–2018 - Exited FreeCharge. Spent time learning and investing. - Pondered about: Why can't trust be rewarded? Started with $1M of personal capital. - Launched CRED to reward people for paying credit card bills on time. 2019–2025 - Built a system run by a team that values ownership, judgment, and craft. - Grew from 0 to 17M members by aligning incentives with behaviour. - Built several products during COVID lockdowns. - Raised $900M+ from global investors. Did 4 ESOP buybacks. - Made Indiranagar and IPL ads slightly more interesting. - Received a full stack of regulatory licences. - Lost 35 kilos. - Scaled from 0 to ~$325M ( ~₹3,200 crore) in annual revenue across payments, lending, insurance, commerce, wealth, and credit cards. 2026 - First profitable quarter (yet occasionally asked what our business model is) - Raised another $900M from Meta in primary and secondary capital. - Announcing our 5th ESOP buyback. Today CRED is ready for its next phase. I am stepping back and @miten steps in as interim CEO, partnered with an incredibly talented team. He has been heading strategy and finance and suffering me since 2020. I’m stepping away from the operating role and will continue as a shareholder. My commitment doesn’t change. Just the role. Extremely grateful to our members, partners, regulators, and investors who made this possible. And to our board, Shailendra, Micky, Saurabh for their extraordinary conviction. Team CRED, I’ll still expect you to be a 10x version of yourselves. As for me, I’ll be joining Meta to lead WhatsApp globally. Meta comes in as a minority investor in CRED. No access to member data. While it’s come very far, the delta between WhatsApp today and its full potential is massive. I look forward to working with Mark, Chris, and the leadership across Meta for the next step in WhatsApp’s journey. Will, thank you for scaling something the world relies on quietly, and for making this transition smooth. Onwards.

Not an Indiranagar cafe, and not gatekeeping...but @spc_india is the place for the really heretical builders to hang out, any day of the week. We also have great coffee. If it's Monday, make it minus one.

Before being an investor, I have spent 15+ years building companies, alongside some of you…and this is a core belief I hold - extraordinary talent is not the constraint in India. We have no shortage of the right people. But they need the right environment, in which to figure out what is worth being their life’s work! The best ideas are shaped through collision, challenged by peers, and strengthened by a community that pushes you to think bigger. That has historically been a gap. That is why we started @spc_india. This is that intellectually safe, emotionally honest community, where exceptional founders, researchers, operators and domain experts can explore the most ambitious ideas, fearlessly. When you're surrounded by excellence, your own ambition, conviction, and pace of learning compound in ways that are hard to replicate anywhere else! Here's how we are building a zone of excellence here, and who I'd love to meet.

Not sure how active @spc_india is — I’ll be building from Bangalore for the next 4 months. Focused around agentic payments, is it a good place to build edge-fintech products? Happy to get in-touch with fellows there :)
