असम का गणित साफ होते जा रहा है। कांग्रेस अकेले 45 से 48 सीटें जीतकर एक मजबूत ताकत के रूप में उभर सकती है। यदि समीकरण अनुकूल रहे तो पीपुल्स पार्टी को भी अपनी सीटों की संख्या एक से बढ़ाकर 4/5 करने का अवसर मिलेगा। जातीय परिषद में 1-3 सीटें जीतने की संभावना है। सीपीआई (एम) को भी एक सीट मिलने की उम्मीद है। इसी प्रकार, सर्वदलीय हिल्स लिर्डस कॉन्फ्रेंस के भी 1-2 सीटें जीतने की प्रबल संभावना है। अगर कहीं दक्षिणी असम में जहां कांटे की टक्कर बताई जा रही परिस्थितियां थोड़ी सी भी कांग्रेस के पक्ष में हुई खेल बदल जाएगा। यह भी सच है कि बीजेपी का खराब प्रदर्शन या मार्जिनल जीत हिमांता की विदाई की वजह बनेगा।

WHY INDIA ALLIANCE IS WINNING 2024 : The rising hit rate of the Congress ,and a wholly BJP-dependent NDA. 1) In the last 10 general elections, the average total number of seats won by both the BJP and Congress together is around 310 seats ( 1984 and 2019 were outlier elections, relatively). 2) If BJP does well, Congress suffers. If Congress romps home, BJP goes down ( explains PM Modi’s obsession with the grand old party). For simplicity, if Congress wins 70 seats, BJP could get 240. If Congress gets 90-100, BJP could be down to 210-220. 3) So why is 2024 looking in favor of INDIA alliance? Congress party’s hit-rate against BJP was a measly 8% in both 2014 and 2019. They have a higher upside even at a modest level of electoral improvement, but it damages BJP significantly. The Congress does not have to be spectacular to stop the BJP. 4) At a conservative estimate, Congress is seen making breakthroughs in ; Karnataka ( 10), Maharashtra ( 5 ), Gujarat ( 1 ), Haryana ( 4), Rajasthan ( 7 ), Chhatisgarh ( 4), MP ( 3), Uttar Pradesh ( 4 ), Delhi ( 1), Assam ( 2) , North- eastern states and UT’s ( 5 ), Bihar ( 2), Jharkhand ( 2), Uttarakhand ( 1), and HP ( 2); a total of 53 LS seats snatched from the BJP. The numbers in Maharashtra and Karnataka could be much higher, but let us project on the lower side. Congress itself could bring BJP down to 250 ( 303-53). Congress will be in double digits in Telangana at the cost of the BRS, in all likelihood. 5) But what about the INDIA alliance? Shiv Sena ( UBT ), NCP ( Sharad Pawar), RJD, AAP, SP, JMM, etc are also likely to reduce BJP’s tally further, at a minimum estimate by another 30 seats, reducing it to 220 seats. 6) But BJP could gain seats too? But where? Maybe Odisha and Telangana, and AP. But they will barely add up to an extra 10 seats. Unless West Bengal decimates TMC ( it looks unlikely), the BJP on its own will not even reach 230. 7) The most crucial factor of 2024 thus becomes the equation; BJP= NDA. It’s 38 constituents do not have the numbers, barring TDP. JDU, LJP, JDS, SS ( Shinde), and NCP ( Ajit Pawar) are laggards with negligible additions to the kitty. Even if the BJP were to miraculously reach 250, the NDA may not have the numbers. 8) Bottomline: Ignore the self-styled political consultants, and get ready for change. As per sources, Diesel prices increased by 91 paise per litre and petrol by 87 paise per litre. Diesel in Delhi hiked to Rs 92.49 per litre, and Petrol hiked to Rs 99.51.
