@bscholl It would certainly make it easier to like you and root for you if you did. At least when Elon criticizes Lockheed, he has always critiqued the game not the players and caveated - “they do some interesting work and have good engineers”

@bscholl Why the Lockheed Martin hate? They build at the intersection of what the planners in the pentagon want and what congress will pay for and bend the laws of Physics to make that happen. I know X-59 is threatening to Overture… but we all fly the same flag 🇺🇸 Be more classy.

It takes Lockheed and the fucked up defense industrial base two years to fill an order for a Patriot missile interceptor. And years longer if the spec needs to change. When the enemy can iterate but we can’t, American forces are left defenseless.

@bscholl Or on packing. Travel would be better if I could list the things I need and have them show up at my hotel instead of packing them. Real Toiletries, clothes, shoes… As if you’re visiting a very good friend/ family where their place already has your clothes and toothbrush.

Besides airplanes being too slow, what are the things you hate most about flying commercially? (We'll fix as many of these as we can on Overture!)

@IterIntellectus Wire fences will remain undefeated against quadrupeds. Razor wire, concertina wire, barbed wire, the humble chain link fence… pick any it’ll work. A cargo net spread and staked 6inches off the surface, cowboys with lassos, robot cowboys with lassos. The. List. Goes. On.

@XCorpHub Correct me if there’s more afterwards, but it looks like it kept going? Wouldn’t that be a hit and run?

🚨 Tesla FSD faces a no-win scenario Tesla on FSD at 47 mph on a rural two-lane road • Dog steps into the path as oncoming traffic fills the opposite lane •No shoulder available and no time to stop The system’s decision • Held its lane • Protected the people in both vehicles • Dog was hit Why it matters • Classic real-world trolley problem • Safety rule: never trade an animal for a human collision • Humans often swerve and cause worse crashes Hard to watch. This is what maturing autonomous judgment looks like.

One of the most important (and overlooked) scenes in the Odyssey is the encounter with the Lotus-eaters. After nine days at sea, Odysseus and his men finally reach dry land. They go ashore to collect water, and Odysseus sends three men to go explore. When his men don't return, Odysseus begins to worry. The men had met some of the islanders (the Lotus-eaters), "who did them no hurt, but gave them to eat of the lotus, which was so delicious that those who ate of it left off caring about home, and did not even want to go back". Odysseus ends up having to drag his men back to the ships and quickly sail away. One must understand the symbolic power of the lotus. Its danger is not in any physical threat. The lotus is so deadly because it overloads you with pleasure, taking away all sense of urgency. In this state of pleasure and relaxation, you forget your mission and your purpose. The men who ate the lotus flowers completely forgot about everything of value in their lives: their homes, their families, etc. It's easy to think the monsters and beasts are the most terrifying threats you face. But because they're so obviously dangerous and remind you that death is a real possibility, they alert you to the value of life, and remind you of why you're fighting. But the real danger is a life so comfortable that you forget what you were trying to do in the first place. Statistically speaking, it's unlikely you'll ever go to war or die of famine. But it is certainly possible that an addiction to your phone will derail you from your mission. Abundance of food and entertainment is far more likely to destroy you than most physical threats. Yes, you will encounter plenty of Sirens and Cyclopes in life. But the real threat, which you must fend off every single day, is that of the lotus flower: a delicious indulgence that brings you immediate satisfaction, and makes you forget what you were fighting for.

@pigol1 As a good engineer you should be starting fires, call them “controlled burns”, every 3-6months to keep maintenance up and reduce risk of catastrophic out of control fires

@PokeysaurusRex @dhanlin3 @TheTotalmcsucks @Ben_Jones88 Please be kind in 🏈 comments, some of us have CTE😜 😘 😉 For instance I thought 💭 “opponents 43rd” meant 7 yards closer not 7 yards further🤦‍♂️ Kicking for 43 is no guarantee, but it would be a reasonable attempt even at the HS level. 57 is a bit different.

@Ben_Jones88 If we don’t believe in the run game, or believe strongly in the defense and doubt their kicker, kick for 3 and then HOLD

@Ben_Jones88 Hows my defense? How good is my kicker? If we run for 5 it’s a first down, and then we burn time and give all the yards we just earned back for 3 downs and then ice it with the kicker. Cold, calculated, gritty.

@matharium Looks better with smaller particles, but this would run faster if particle sizes and steps aligned 1:1 with maze sizes and steps Currently lots of wasted steps

The dumbest way to solve a maze, and it works every time. Release thousands of particles at the entrance and let each random walk. The first to stumble out has traced a legal path. Retrace its steps and the answer is there. Diffusion, not thinking.
