Proposed Vaping Tax, 01-Oct-26: It is said a heavy vaper uses 5ml of 18mg/ml eliquid a day (5x18=90mg nicotine) 30ml of 3mg/ml eliquid is 90mg nicotine. The bottle on the right represents four days of such low nicotine cloud vaping. Close to the price of three bottles of scotch

@PWildebest @NPC14 @JAHeale One unnamed minister in Laura Spirit's [pre 3 line whip] Times article suggested that 1,500 would panic the cabinet. Anything less than 2,200 loses and team Starmer are just going to shrug.

Lord Hayward, pollster and Tory peer, has done his forecasts for next week’s council elections: 🩵Reform - gain 1550 🔶Lib Dems - gain 150 🌴Tories - lose 600 🌹Labour - lose 1850

@ExchangeTape @JAHeale I wrote *meltdown*. Would still be the biggest local council Party. lose 75% of 2,500 [2026] lose 75% of 2,500 [....] lose 75% of 2,500 [....] Then you have meltdown. Nothing seems to stick when criticising Keir.

@Rat_1960 @JAHeale Losing 75% of the contested seats on top of the seats they lost last year isn't a catastrophe? Zippy is pretty responsible I'd say and as he keeps saying, 'the buck stops with him'. Surely his position is very precarious..

@bigun1414 @JAHeale I get the total numbers and when the councillors are up for election. On that prediction Labour would still have more councillors than any other Party. Labour would have to take that hit in 2026, 2028 and 2030 to reach what I see as meltdown.

@RHPalmerston3 @JAHeale No I just know how many Labour and Tory councillors exist along with how many are up for reelection between now and 2030. (assuming no council reorganisations) The projected hit would still mean Labour has more councillors than any other party.

@NotAScoobie @JAHeale Assume this election cycle Labour drop 70% Then the next cycle in 2028 70% of that Finally in 2030 70% of the final tranche. It takes three big bites to get a meltdown. Folks just don't know councillor totals. There are currently about 4,000 Tories.

@HarryClap52652 @JAHeale Well yes that would be if it happened. That is for three election cycles on the trot Labour dropped 70% of seats. Takes until 2030 assuming no council re-organisation.

@Rat_1960 @JAHeale Extrapolating the figures for this election to ‘total’ councillors, would mean a drop from 5850 to just 1580! What exactly do I consider a ‘meltdown’? 😂

Nigel Farage has been referred to the Standards Commissioner after @Annaisaac revealed that he received a £5million gift from cypto billionaire Christopher Harborne before he was elected in 2024 Farage said that he used the money to fund his private security. But the Commons rules state that new members are required to register any benefits - including gifts - that they received in the 12 months prior to their election The Tories have now referred Farage to the Standards Commissioner, saying that Farage must 'come clean'

I have written formally to Reform UK to address racism and hate from their Ickenham and South Harefield candidate, Howard Dini. The posts include explicit endorsements of violence and fall far below any acceptable standard for public office.

@darrenpjones Gordon Brown raided the "unearned" dividends on my pension fund. As a paid up fund come the annuity as an income it was below the Personal Allowance, which of course had also been frozen. I paid tax for twenty years and did not see any benefit. Your Party steals from pensions.

What is it that the Conservatives and Reform don’t like about a Labour government standing against unearned wealth? What is it they don't like about raising money for our state schools, our hospitals, our police, and to lift children out of poverty?

Post-truth nonsense from @KemiBadenoch at PMQs. Some facts: - employment is up over 800k since the election - employment rate is near the highest on record (look at this chart) - inactivity rates are lower than all but one year under the Tories

Sir Peter Morris: Just fed up of all the nonsense.
Should the ban on 16 year olds be enforced. Do you think it will make a blind bit of difference? How many people have asked their younger kids to sort out their phone, laptop or computer? They will find a workaround. Meanwhile, they plan to give them the vote?

Reading people's justifications for pushing the blue button is actually spiking my cortisol levels If everybody pushes red - nothing happens! So why on earth would anyone press blue? It's a needless gamble, but it's being painted as the altruistic decision for some reason
