Of course a certain people are upset about this because they don’t know how things work. It’s not just about you not owning slaves. It’s not about the fact that the USA paid reparations to SLAVEOWNERS and not a dime to newly freed men. It’s not about the forty acres and a mule that was promised and never fully given. It’s not about the land that thriving Blacc people were forced off of from Tulsa to Rosewood and so many more. It’s not about you not being responsible for Blacc WW1-2 vets being excluded from VA benefits. As well as being excluded from EVERY homestead act EVER. It’s not about YOU period. It’s about the government doing what they were supposed to do in the FIRST place. Especially since the government has made payment after payment to this day to everyone else. And to anyone who thinks it’s a handout you better think again. Blacc wealth has increased in recent years and continues to increase. Handout? No. It’s just what is owed. That’s it. That’s all. Nothing follows.

The federal government sanctioned slavery. Jim Crow. Redlining. Predatory lending. Countless injustices that persist to this day. It’s long past time it paid the debt owed to Black America. Honored to reintroduce the Reparations Now Resolution after Rep. Bush passed the mantle. Justice can’t wait.
